    Kings Cross - New station

I disagree. All of the wayfinding designates the mezzanine as Passenger Seating & Restaurants. The station map does the same. How much more clearer does it need to be? If I was looking for a seat and saw a sign directing me to passenger seating I'd follow it. Once you're up there you're in a...

    Kings Cross - New station

Well you're certainly more on expert than me- so thanks for the reply! Makes perfect sense when you think about it! Thanks Bald Rick, very interesting and food for thought.

    Kings Cross - New station

Ah! Thanks ainsworth, could you tell me the reason they need to wait rather than doing it when the new concourse opens? I guess it's actually a bigger, more complex job than I initially assumed!

    Kings Cross - New station

I was under the impression that platform "0" was only a temporary designation during construction and that once all finished it would become platform "1" with the other platforms renumbered accordingly. Now I've only just noticed that all the new signage, which has been in for ages  ...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I suspect that many people will be happier with the current offering over the old tea & coffee, water and a biscuit.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I agree with you on this. The only reason I will travel first is to get away from the noise/crowds/drunks. Slightly worried by those saying they aren't getting enough alcohol - hoping that those that like heavy drinking aren't upgrading for free unlimited alcohol otherwise it will end up as bad...

    British Airailways ????

They once had a stake in Eurostar so you never know.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Ah! No wonder you're not happy that at seat dining has gone. You were effectively receiving what us cheap skates now get but to a higher standard. Although isn't the Scottish Exec ticket £199 - fairly cheap anyway and not a great deal more than it usually costs me to get to Durham and back...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Oh please  I'm sorry if the fact that I prefer the new offering doesn't fit with the thread consensus but I can assure that my only link to EC is as a customer. The service on the Highland Cheiftain on Friday was good and the train was packed, haven't got anymore to say on it so I'll leave...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I think i used at seat dining maybe once on the numerous times I've travelled first with GNER, Nat Express, East Coast so it's a fairly major improvement over a biscuit.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Friday 12:00 KGX to NCL. Service was very busy in all of first class and throughout standard according to the guard. Tea and Coffee run pretty much straight out Kings Cross. Drinks trolley after roughly 30mins maybe. Glass of Red Wine and a bottle of water. Food run after they'd completed...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Well I finally got to try the new first class offering and I've got to say that this is a huge improvement. Service was excellent on both legs and the comp food and drink adds great value.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Is it really that much of a hardship to put your rubbish in the bin? There is nothing worse than getting on a train to find someone has left all of their rubbish on the seat. You may be in a first and expect the staff to run around cleaning up after you but is it really that much of a hassle to...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

For me this is the key point - for many people complimentary food is a good reason to upgrade. It adds a lot of value to the first class offering, which was previously poor compared to Virgin in my opinion. Haven't tried it yet but will be in few weeks time - so can't comment on the actual food...

Joined. This sounds great - shouldn't be too hard to get some reward tickets out of this :D

People sitting at the end of a 3 or 2 seat row

A lot of people prefer the aisle seat so I don't see it as a problem providing they will let you in to get the window seat. A bigger annoyance for me is someone with their bag on the empty seat whilst listening to their iPod and gazing out of the window - that drives me crazy.

Super Breaks 2 night rail offers

Exactly! Like you say standard works out pretty much free and the cost to upgrade to first is VERY reasonable. Amazing deals to be had on rail breaks and fantastic flexibility with the tickets. You can also reserve the seats for free by going to the station (super breaks charge £5 pp). Very happy.
