No not planning on doing that. Will be travelling on the correct dates for the hotel stay. I am going for 3 nights and travelling first class with East Coast. I have ended up with an unbelievably good deal for first class KGX return on East Coast. I am still shocked at how little this is costing.

No major infrasture would have ever been built if "spoiling" the countryside was put first - although I'm all for bypassing brum and going straight up to the northern cities!

The East Coast route goes through some stunning countryside, no doubt if it didn't exist today and was merely a proposal there would be massive objections...as is the case for numerous existing routes. Sometimes we need to look at the bigger picture.

Fair point! The affluence/connection of the nimby plays a major role.
