Engineering Works north of Carlisle 7 & 8 June 2025

Can anyone advise of what is actually happening please. I am guessing the WCML works are part of the multi week-end engineering works. I noticed that ScotRail/Network Rail are taking advantage of no access to Carlisle to do other works as Rail Replacement Buses are running Carlisle to Kilmarnock.

I am looking at bustimes to see where my bus is. 10 minutes ago, all was well. Now it shows the buses in the correct locations but the details of the bus and service are totally random, rather like there is a misalignment between databases. Is it bustimes or my browser - Firefox on android...

Solar panel on Munich Trailer bus

I raised this thread as a link came my way for the use of solar panels on a trailer bus. The article was interesting for 2 reasons: 1. Use of solar panels on a bus 2. A trailer bus - not very common but apparently Munich has 57 and a Munich contractor has 56. So are there other instances...

    Hydrive project expansion?

If the hybrid 168 works, why not just do the same for the 165s but geared for 75mph. Then Chiltern just have one underfloor powerpack type to maintain. Could also consider doing the same with 166s.

Train/Carriage Aerodynamics – Azuma, Pendolino and others

RAIL issue 921 has a side view of an Azuma and a Pendolino on the cover. Both views are full side on and so you can clearly see all the way underneath the carriage.
