Bus tyres stolen from Stagecoach Morecambe

Thousands of pounds worth of tyres stolen from Morecambe bus depot
Thieves made off with thousands of pounds worth of premium Bridgestone tyres from a Morecambe bus depot.

Three men entered Stagecoach’s White Lund depot twice, in a vehicle described as a long wheel based van, stealing 18 new Bridgestone tyres, worth £7,000, from a shipping container.

Police are now appealing for information and are keen to speak to anyone who can help them with their enquiries, or who may have been offered the tyres for sale since the theft happened, on Tuesday November 1 between 6.50pm and 7.40pm.

Surely someone in the bus wash would of seen them, it's practically next door to it, I worked at the depot for a good few years.

Wear a hi-viz and walk confidently and you can get away with anything without being challenged.

I'm assuming the tyres can also be used on HGVs, otherwise the market is fairly small.

Yeah, I'd expect it would be for sale to small, disreputable HGV operations who won't ask questions on where they were from (or potentially small disreputable bus companies*, as there are a few!). There is however only one independent service bus operator in the area (located in the same industrial estate despite their name), and being reputable we can be sure they would never get involved in such a thing, so it must be further afield.

* I allege this at none in particular, other than possibly the former UK North, who I'd bet *would* have bought nicked tyres at the right price.
