Does anyone know which railway ran through what is now Daisy Nook country park in Oldham? The line ran through what is now the car park by the cafe, here on Google maps, through a small tunnel and over horse shoe bridge. Google says it was the Ashton Under Lyne branch but when I have watched any...
I'm looking to travel to Kielci in Poland in September to visit a friend. Although I have no issues with flying, I thought I would see if I could travel by train. At least for the out trip, as I feel trains allow a lot more opportunity to see the views of each country I travel through.
Maybe I...
I bought a return ticket from Stowmarket to London Liverpool Street. However, even though on the email it says from Liverpool Street to Stowmarket changing at Stratford for the return, on the eticket it only says from Stratford to Stowmarket. When I asked at the ticket office they said I had to...
What are your views on the planned VED introduction on electric cars in 2025?
Because the majority of electric cars cost over £40k when new, under current legislation they would also be liable for the extra VED surcharge.
Although I appreciate that eventually VED will need to be charged on...
What are people's view of the pylons that are planned to be erected through East Anglia by the national grid to supply London?
Some of the pylons would go through the farm across the road from where I live, which the farmer is none to pleased about as they would go right behind his house...

I visited and took some pics of the old rail bridge near the site of Yaxley halt in Suffolk, which was part of the Mellis to Eye railway, closed to passangers in 1931 and freight in 1964.
I believe this is the only evidence left that this line ever existed.
The bridge still looked in a good...
I walked the Cwn Prysor viaduct last September when I was on holiday in Wales. Is a beautiful structure and great to see it still standing, although I always feel sad whenever I see disused railway arcitecture.
I went the wrong way at first and walked for about a couple of miles up a steep hill...
Does anyone know which rail line used this bridge near where the Ffestinigog railway crosses the A487 near Minffordd?
I can't seem to find any railways that used this bridge on any historical maps but the bridge looks like a disused rail bridge.
The Ffestinigog railbridge is in the background...
Why do trains from Lowestoft stop at the far end of platform 1 at Ipswich station rather than drive up to the buffers?
Does not stopping at the far end mean anyone with mobility issues has quite a fair further distance to walk?
What are people's opinions on the new health secretary. Can a person who is obese and regularly smokes cigars be considered as fit for a role that involves the nations health?
Are people comfortable with the fact she called for a review of the smoking ban in private members clubs, voted against...
Is the executive director's response valid that passangers should have reboarded the train for Pentrith for replacement transport or were the passangers justified for staying at Oxenholme?
This was the main comments of the CE Natasha Grice...
I guess one has to admire their enthusiasum and willingness to not give up, but would any heritage railway be able to raise that sort of sum for a short extension?
Would it be even worth it?

I am travelling to London for a 3 day conference but because of the strike I have decided I will have to drive instead as the conference finishes next Tuesday.
My outward journey is on the Sunday.
I have asked for a refund for this journey on the Sunday that was bought seperatly from...

However when I collected the tickets at the collection machine at stowmarket station it only printed out the first part of the journey from wellingborough to bedford.
I phoned trainsplit and they said...
Why was the old Ipswich docks branch track bed fenced off when they lifted the tracks? When I first moved to Suffolk in 2005 you could walk onto the old tracks and the lower yard with buffer stops (though I never did this myself) but now the Ranleigh road end has a green fence across it and the...
