I know not an exciting thread by any means but via my back patio doors about two months ago I woke to about 30 black ants in through the pvc door trim, after powders, sprays, diluted lemon washing up liquid nothing worked but then I bought a few bait traps & although it took about 7 days it...
A minor thing but on my hall wall there has been a three piece glass mirror set for some 10 years held with sticky pads that were with the purchase at the time but one part has decided to fall off the wall breaking, the other two parts are set like concrete still.
Always the way can’t get same...
I know many of us are organised & have a will in place. I’m getting on a bit & don’t have one & this week I have been Googling options with mixed info & feedback re pricing & who best to appoint & like everything because it’s cheaper often doesn’t mean better.
I read some will writers pushing...
Seeing so much crime & anti social behaviour across the UK nowadays I was curious to know how your birth towns/cities or where you lived for a long time have declined or improved.
I’ll kick off with two areas of London where I have seen big changes, both are in South London.
1) Balham where I...
Back in October Virgin Media descended on my area in West Sussex digging trenches/cabling & pavement cuts up to property perimeters without any warning & even boxing in residents with barriers & the mess was unbelievable for more than a week but let me put that to one side.
Then followed grey...
I have searched but couldn’t find an answer to this specifically.
Very briefly in a few weeks time I have an advanced timed single ticket but now I will have to break my journey for about two hours then carry on to my main destination.
I’ve looked at restrictions for this ticket but there is...
Just wanted views please on service charges in Hospitality which if the service is good I don’t object to at all.
I stayed at a well known London hotel chain this week & with a family member we ate in the bar. At the end of the meals I went to the bar to sign off to my room number which showed...
https://www.standard.co.uk/business/business-news/evening-standard-to-drop-daily-edition-in-favour-of-weekly-newspaper-b1160845.html
It seems that the Evening Standard will cease the free daily weekday publication at many London Stations & certain Underground Stations & just print a weekly...
Just a quick question as I’m a total twit re IT.
Anyone having problems using the Safari search engine on their iPhone? Just won’t load anything.
Had a problem most of the day & normally don’t have issues, my internet provider is BT who tell me no problems in my area & my internet is secure...
I use public transport a fair bit in London & Sussex but particularly in London & for a number of years now the queuing system at a bus stop is non existent. No consideration is given by the majority towards fellow travellers re age, gender, disability etc when boarding. A free for all sounds a...
On my social travels & when I was working on the railway always picked up a Metro & it seemed to be very popular with commuters but the last couple of weeks on the Sussex West Coastway they are no longer, the metal dispensers are also being removed & the Stagecoach buses also no longer have...
Weird one but past couple of weeks when searching on Safari it can be football sites, hotel sites, even this site as I hit the site link to go into it I get this dog image flash up for a second, in fact I’ve only just managed to screenshot it as it’s that quick (attached)
It shouldn’t do but...
Could anyone who is in the know please advise when the nigh on constant weekend closure of East Croydon to London Victoria (also means can’t get to Clapham Junction) most weekends will ever be completed?
I’m not sure how long it’s now gone on but well over a year if not two but with work &...
I’ll be in Munich for a week third week of Feb, I’ve Googled their ticket system for their subway/train system re tickets to only find it a bit baffling.
I’ve read info on day tickets & three day but can you buy a weekly pass to travel on & off daily?
It mentions validating on the platform...
I claimed for a 10:23 cancelled train last Saturday Angmering to Clapham Junction as were the next 4 trains cancelled in the next 2 hours. This train is always scheduled on a Saturday (other days of week 10:22) with 23 minutes past the hour all day in addition to a 52 past throughout the day...
https://www.timeout.com/london/news/this-is-officially-the-worst-train-station-in-london-123022
I use East Croydon a lot, as bad as it is can’t say I’ve found it dramatically worse than other London stations although it’s not helped with both West & East Sussex Coastway often chaotic.
So as we approach the end end of 2022 what will be your New Year resolution for 2023?
I don’t bother normally but thought as my health hasn’t been good since getting Covid early in the year I need to help my breathing so I’ve got an old mountain bike that my son gave me when he traded up, I...
I have had an NHS dentist since young & believe me I was a kid so long ago I vaguely remember the time :'(
So about 8 years ago after moving out of London I immediately found another NHS dentist, second appointment six months later I turned up & he had closed down with no notification.
Signed...
Yesterday I arrived about 8am at East Croydon station to find queues of commuters stretching to the streets approaching from the side of the station & the front where the trams stop.
Now I’m not a stranger to this station but I could not believe the chaos & I would say it was absolutely chaotic...
So with the current situation advanced tickets as per Southern can be refunded for non cashable vouchers.
All good so far in theory, my Southern account over the past four weeks shows three advanced purchases in green as REFUNDED.
But….when I go to e-vouchers/credit there is nothing there as...
