Does anyone know if it is possible to buy a ticket on the Northern app for somebody else? There doesn't seem to be an option to say who the ticket is for, and the wording seems to assume that the ticket will be for the person buying it.
I will be with the person throughout the journey, and have...
Is it possible when buying an advance ticket to add extra connection time? I'm booking a first class ticket for my mum for a Northern commuter train into Manchester Picc then Avanti to London. I'd like to give her about 45-50 mins in Piccadilly so she's not stressing about time and has a chance...
Hello, I want to travel with a relative who doesn't have a smartphone and we have no access to a printer. If I buy the tickets as etickets is there any reason why I can't just show my phone twice at the barrier?
We'll be making the journery between Manchester and Liverpool so probably Northern...
Today saw a lady almost collide with the stair lift as she climbed the steps from platform 14 at Piccadilly.
I'm not surprised; it's hard to see if the stairs are busy or you're focused on your baggage or feet, and you wouldn't expect to meet something sharp and heavy at head height.
A bit of...
I was delayed on a TPE but sent the claim to Northern (and actually said in the claim that specificially it was a Northern service, when it wasn't). Obviously I can tell the difference between Nothern and TPE and spent the journey moaning about TPE.
But I'd just (correctly) submitted a delay...
Is there a network bus map for Greater Manchester? The tfgm website will show a map for an individual service but you need to know what service to select.
Does anyone know of something like this for Manchester...
I've noticed recently that for any journey that would normally involve a change at Manchester Piccadilly between platforms 13 and 14 - e.g. Nottingham to Manchester Airport - I'm getting itinerarys on NRE and other apps to instead carry on to Oxford Road and double back.
If everything's on time...
... how much notice are we likely to get? I'm building up a bit of a stack of delay repay free tickets which I assume won't be honoured by whoever takes over. :D
Hello everyone, I've been booked a ticket by work for Manchester to zone 2.
Can I use this on the DLR or is it just for the tube?
I've not seen the ticket yet so don't know exact wording or restriction codes.
Hello, services to Hadfield/Glossop from Manchester Piccadilly sometimes route Dinting > Hadfield > Glossop and sometimes Dinting > Glossop > Hadfield.
(The line splits at Dinting with two short branches to H and G).
Suppose you have a CDR Manchester Stations to Hadfield...
I saw this thread earlier
https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/is-there-a-website-to-find-trains-that-go-through-a-station-but-dont-stop.183154/
Which ended up refering to this service from Manchester Victoria to London Victoria

Hello, is the £16.00 off peak day return Buxton to Marple valid for a change between the two New Mills stations, then via Strines?
For that matter, is it ever likely to be quicker than going into Manchester and back?
Similarly I assume Buxton to Sheffield is valid by walking between the two...
The weekend of the next Euston blockade 25th - 28th I may need to travel Brighton to Gatley near Manchester.
According to Northwestern https://www.londonnorthwesternrailway.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations/no-trains-london-euston-saturday-25-monday-27-august
Would that still apply...
Hello, I have a Gatwick to Newcastle super off peak return 9d ticket.
I want to break my return journey to visit Manchester.
Ticket was provided by work so I can't change the ticket in any way, just buy extra to fill in gaps.
What's the best way please? It looks to me like I can go York...
Hello, an elderly relative who lives outside London is planning a visit.
She has a local over-60s bus pass.
Am I right in thinking that she can get free bus travel in London, but will have to pay regular adult fares for tubes, trams, trains, zip wires and so on?
If so, what times of day can...
Hi all
I was on the WMT Euston to Crewe service at 1446 yesterday (Friday) and it was heaving, at least till Rugby.
Are there any times of day when that service is actually quiet?
It's a big saving over the Virgin fare but I'm not sure if it's worth it if you can't get a double seat to make...
Hello, I need to travel Brighton to Gatley next week.
I can go off peak, need flexibility on which trains to take, but don't mind taking longer if there's a saving.
Off peak return via Virgin is £110.10. But I know there's a Brighton to Crewe (Southern/WMT only) off peak return at £52.20 and...
It only took slightly longer than double the maximum time it should have taken.
I can see why it was so slow though. The cheque they sent was handwritten.
What decade is it again?
Hello everyone
On March 13 as you know there's strike action affecting Northern and Southern services.
I have an advance ticket that day, starting with a Northern service, ending with a Southern service, with a Virgin west coast service in the middle. I bought the ticket from Virgin west...
