I'm wondering what to do when TOCs don't provide alternative transport when a passenger has a valid ticket and is in mid journey with no more trains going back to the origin. I was almost stuck in this situation a few weeks ago.
On the 27th August I was getting the 14:41 from Oban to Glasgow...
I was at Dalmuir station just there trying to buy tickets to back home to Oban, I was using an RTV to pay for my ticket, the RTV didn't scan and the person behind the desk made a phone call to another station. They were told by someone on the phone that because it was an LNER voucher I had to...
I noticed that 2L60 Arbroath to Edinburgh has a dwell time of 27 minutes at Dundee, are there any other services with ludicrously long dwell times (that aren’t sleeper services)?

Hypothetically if I couldn’t board the train due to it being too full (in this current environment) and that train I miss meats up with the last train to my final destination does the TOC have a responsibility to get me replacement transport to get me to my final destination?
In January I used a Spirit of Scotland and had some delays, ScotRail claim that my ticket has been tampered with and won’t pay out. All the dates entered on the ticket were done by guards. The 30 does look like a 31 but I don’t see how that would be an issue as I used it the next day anyway...
I've noticed that ScotRail have banned rover and ranger tickets because of covid which was sensible while the trains were for key workers only, now that Scotland is opened up for tourism and you can now travel for leisure are they still allowed to ban the sale of these types of tickets?

I have to go from Milngavie - Euston on the 27th
My itinerary is as follows:
22:44 Milngavie - Glasgow Central
23:40 Glasgow Central - London Euston
I won't be able to get there (Milngavie) until after 21:30 and the last train leaves just after 20:00.
Spoke to ScotRail on the phone and told...
Just saw from this twitter thread here that the passenger purchased the ticket on-board the train (obviously not allowed to use railcard discounts as there's a ticket office) and was charged a peak time fare during off-peak hours. Is there anywhere in the NRToCs that allow ToCs to do this...
I've always wondered what the fastest theoretical time it would take to visit all stations in Scotland. Applying similar rules to TubeChallenge (either arrive or depart on a train from all stations, other transport connections allowed but no taxi/personal car)
I've managed to get it down to 5...
I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s cheaper to buy a rover ticket that encorporates your start and end destinations rather than buy a return ticket, or even in some cases a single ticket. The most extreme example I’ve seen of this so far is Barrhill to Ardlui, £16.70 for a single or £13.10 for a...
Why does '2E53 0646 Airdrie to Balloch' skip Drumchapel, Drumry and Singer (SX) when it's scheduled to stop on the timetable?
SX = Saturdays Excepted

Looking at the 1970s diagram for the sleeper between Edinburgh and Fort William, did the sleeper go into Glasgow Queen St. High Level and then back out? And if so what was the arrival time and was it a different 37 that pulled it back out to Fort William?
Last week I was on the 09:39 Glasgow Queen St. to Aberdeen HST service. Going along the E&G at what felt like full line speed the train started to slow to take the left towards Stirling, as we traversed the points the train jerked to the right and then to the left followed by one more to the...
I've noticed many ECS movements across the Strathclyde area and wondered why they aren't used as express services, albeit with odd stopping patterns but could still be useful.
For example, 5C05 1808 Carstairs to Yoker C.S. could run as 1C05 1808 Carstairs to Garscadden, stopping at Motherwell...
I’ll be leaving from the Hydro tonight to get a train from Exhibition Centre to Singer, if the station is overcrowded not allowing me to get a train, will I get a taxi from ScotRail?
So if I buy a first class 1 week season ticket between Golf Street and Barry Links (£10.80) then technically I would have free unlimited first class travel for the Saturday and Sunday my ticket is valid for.

What is the cheapest possible fare that can be purchased from Fort William to Euston on the sleeper for 2 with a room?
What is the cheapest possible fare that can be purchased from Paddington to Penzance on the sleeper for 2 with a room?
On the 26th of September I submitted a Subject Access Request to ScotRail via customer services.
I have been back and forth with them for months trying to get my personal data but I keep getting told that they'll get back to me on it which they never do.
It's now been 131 days since I made my...
