So a bit of fun. With so many tracks come and gone from F1 over the years, what would be your fantasy 20 race season?
Some rules:
A minimum of 3 races in the Americas
A minimum of 3 races in Australia and the Far East
A minimum of 1 race in the middle East
No more than 2 races in 1 country...
In the youtube link below at Stoke Tunnel there are some very very curious 91 movements from 1989.
These include what looks like a charter train and some running with 5 mk3 sleeper coaches both forward and blunt end forward.
Anything to shed light on this mystery?
Looks like a southbound service has sat down at Grantham (now labelled as 5D05) and they have stacked the heavily delayed 1A02 into platform 4 at Grantham. Unfortunately this looks like it has blocked 1R82 (Norwich - Liverpool) on the Down fast as this needs to use platform 4 to leave the East...
Moderator note - split from:
https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/08-11-23-east-coast-landslip-between-darlington-and-newcastle.257403/
This to couple with the lack of TPE services due to the landslip near Dewsbury causing chaos between Leeds and Manchester
Passed a couple of freightliner class 86s that were heading north on low loaders on the M1 south of Sheffield on tuesday. Anyone know where they were off to (assuming Rotherham)
Whats the issue west of leeds station today? Noticed we ran wrong line from Bramley (Armley Crossover) this morning and didnt think about it until train delayed this evening and checked Traksy to see what was going on. Couldnt see anything out of the window as we passed but is causing a healthy...
Hi,
I have had a delay repay claim rejected by Northern, they claimed that the service was not delayed (it wasnt, it skipped my stop entirely so had to get the next train that was also delayed).
I appealed saying that it skip stopped and they still rejected it saying it hadnt according to...
Saw this today at my local station as i got off the train in Northern Land. Is this a sign error or someone not paying attention.
picture of dot matrix indicator expressing condolences following the death of HRH Gelnabeth.
Just saying I have just recently come back from a trip to the South of France (Lourdes) on the night sleeper.
It was a really interesting (and cheap) way of travelling, especially if you discount the cost of hotels for 2 nights from your trip.
Pros
Cheap
Saved nights of accommodation...
I was looking at a map the other day and thinking about if you went from Scarborough to Whitby by train and used Northern trains only.
The as the crow flies distance is approx 25km between the two.
Using Northern trains only Scarborough - Hull - Leeds - Carlisle - Newcastle - Middlesbrough -...
I currently hold an annual season ticket to get from Bramley to York and was wondering whether i could use the ticket to travel from say Headingley to Harrogate?
Both are intermediate stations between Leeds and York on a valid route (the harrogate line i would never actually use to commute...
Forgive me if this has been done before, however in an idle moment the other day I was thinking that if you did build Bradford Crossrail and consolidate the services to one station what services would make sense?
I assume that you wouldn't have (much) space for terminating platforms, and I...
We all know that when it is time for elections, MPs and candidates will crawl out of the woodwork suggesting railway route reopenings, new services, new stations, new technology (Bionic Duckweed anyone).
However, is this overall good or bad for the railways? The number of successes of...
No i don't mean they are finally doing something with 45015.
Have we reached the peak of the heritage railway sector in the UK? Steam engines are becoming more and more difficult to keep running, through maintenance/expenses/coal purchasing etc... The industry has had a big hit from COVID, the...
As our climate gets increasingly wet due to a changing climate, our aging infrastructure is more and more at risk from phenomenon such as landslips, landslides etc... Not just due to large storm events, but general wetter conditions.
I ask what routes are most at risk, as there are only a...
It seems that on this forum, that there are frequently suggestions for reopening of long closed railway lines, with absolutely no business case, and although I would suggest that a lot of them are just plucked out of thin air, enough of them are recurring ideas, with multiple threads over the...
Just a fun thread, asking for your tales on where you have seen locos unexpectedly/generally away from the rail network.
For example I was once driving over the A66 over Stainmore summit in the roadworks when there was only one lane each way and I got stuck behind a truck with a 9F on the back...
Just waiting at Leeds now on the 10.15 to London King's Cross [KGX] and we are still in the station as the lines are blocked due to a plastic bag in the knitting at Fitzwilliam.
Also down are lines between Guiseley and Ilkley and i believe something is up between Darlington and nNwcastle though...
Having been following the thread on Beeching Marples and closures et al a lot of comments are made about Mothballing lines.
My question is:
In reality how long can a line be mothballed for (at minimal cost ie very very occasional inspections, no infrastructure work, disconnected from the main...
I have got the train into and out of Leeds a couple of times over the last 2 weeks and noticed a scotrail liveried 3 car 170 parked outside Neville Hill Depot.
I was then surprised to get on a scotrail 158 at Leeds itself!
Just wondering if anyone had any clue what it is doing there, what its...
