Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I've posted and due to family life a long time since e I've really done much exciting UK rail leisure travel.
I hold non-safeguarded staff travel as does my wife and I'm trying to plan a few days away short notice for our 20th anniversary. Prior to...
Around 3 and a half years ago I sat tests, MMI etc for the depot that was under construction at the time. After the DMI I was informed I was successful, but held back for a phase 2 course. However due to delays and construction problems in Dec 2016 I git an email saying phase 2 was being...
I was trying to help a customer who was travelling from Leamington Spa to Manchester, she got dropped off early and had the return portion of an Off-Peak ticket (no travel on services before 09:30) and wanted the 09:14 direct XC.
I advised her to purchase an SDS Leamington Spa to Birmingham...
Hi everyone, and to stalwarts well, it has been a long time and a whole lifetime away since I last regularly contributed here.
Anyway, I still work on the railway but not where I once did and I currently am without PRIV so I find myself in the mixing lot with everyone else trying to reduce...
It seems some vandals have took to changing rooms on 2 vehciles of 323240. I went out to Hamstead to video and photograph it having seen it and picked up its diagram earlier in the day.

Despite all the signs that I should stay home (dark, raining etc) I still went because it was such rare traction. The first shot was further evidence of the poor weather and I was tempted to head home afterwards.

But I decided to try one more...
Probably the best day I've had linesiding due to the weather and the workings.

Hey everyone, not been on here much due to holidaying in Australia (I know, woe is me!).
Anyway, 7 hours ago I arrived at Perth East station having travelled all the way from Sydney on the Indian Pacific which is run by Great Southern Rail who in turn are owned by Serco. The train traverses a...
Hello all, it's not been a bad start to the month of December, yesterday combining good workings with good weather too. The train gallery for this year is Over here starting with the newest first. Two favourites are below:

Not sure what the tanks are for (TIA bogie tanks), but on 14th November 37607 went to long Marston to fetch 5 and return them to Carlisle Kingmoor. Here is a shot of the train thrashing up the Lickey on a very gloomy morning.

Just a couple I took from Edge Hill station as the loco stormed through the cutting from Liverpool Lime Street. Just as a note, this warm spell actually killed the exhaust a lot, but not too much I can do about it.

Hi all,
My sister-in-law has travelled from Redditch to University on an SDR today. She hit upon the idea of waking the canal to Birmingham to meet her husband from work and then catch the train Birmingham to Redditch. On my advice she sought a zero-fare overdistance excess at University...

Network Rail are proposing a 2 mile section of double track between Redditch and Barnt Green (for those wanting to look on a map, the south end will start north of Weights Lane, the north end will finish before crossing the canal after Alvechurch station)...
Wasn't sure which section to put this in, as it covers model and photos too. I went to a local show to test out the theory and technique to do 'focus stacking' and process with software. For those not aware, one of the limitations when photographing model railways is you get a very poor depth of...
Today a Cathedrals Express ran from Tyseley to Paddington and return via the Cotswold mainline. It presented the first chance to photograph a GWR steam loco (authentic for the route) since the re-doubled section was opened for use, thus looking very much like the days of the world famous...
I'm helping a friend to get tickets for her Mum to visit, travel details are 20th Sep, Droitwich Spa to Folestone Stns, arrival time not really that bothered, wanting cheapest fares.
Although I can't check availability I found some £7 London Midland Advances to Euston, but then for...
I went out to see 55022 this morning on the Crewe-Weymouth charter. As forecast the weather was dull as ever, only for me to arrive home in full sun some 40 minutes later.
