According to RTT, the 1516 from Euston to Glasgow via Birmingham is cancelled - 'due to temporary speed restrictions as a result of heat '. A bit bizarre in January I think.
An interesting report in today's Guardian about the state of German railways. A depressing decline perhaps of what was until recently a system to aspire to ?

Many posts here have well founded criticism of the railway service - so it's nice to report some good experiences. An 8 day train trip from Coventry
Day 1 Coventry to New Brighton via New Street and Lime Street. Everything spot on time - except a few minutes late into Lime St caused by a late...
No - I'm not trying to be a strike breaker - but have a problem which the TOC websites don't seem to resolve.
Originally - the strike days for Nov were 3,5,7.
So because I want to be in Liverpool - I booked tickets for the 9th. West Midlands Railways from Coventry to Lime Street changing at New...
for the 0615 from New Street to Edinburgh (16 Aug)
Two listings for the same train
' This service is partially cancelled
This service was cancelled between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham New Street due to unknown cause () '
And then at the same time - but a different listing
'This...
Quite often semi opaque references are made about Control. Control did this or Control did that.

What about coordination between TOCs sharing...
Yesterday - Saturday 16th July I did a return trip from Coventry to Macclesfield.
The 0927 XC from Coventry was 9 coaches, busy but not crowded, the AC worked as did the seat reservations. Everything was fine and a quick and comfortable trip arrived at Macclesfield just a couple of minutes...
Does anyone know if Burton station has electronic ticket barriers ?? I have a ticket from Derby to Birmingham but want to join at Burton. And if there are barriers then they'll probably reject my ticket.
thanks
An explanation quite often given at Birmingham New Street as to why yet another XC is cancelled. 'This train is cancelled due to too many trains needing repairs at the same time'.
Is this a problem of clapped out stock, staff off due to Covid , shortage of parts or what ?
Years ago - some private rail companies were given nicknames derived from the first letters of the name of the company.
Hence the LNER was the Late and Never Early Railway
The GWR was variously The Great Way Round or God's Wonderful Railway
And many other names were invented, often a cruel...
At the moment as we know rail services have been significantly cut back. But there is a silver lining. I live on the Coventry-Birmingham line, and the local trains recently had a dreadful record of cancellations, station skipping, turning round short of the destination, significant delays and...
