Having experienced countless 390's speed past one thing that's prominent is the noise, presumably from the wheel-rail interface compared to say a desiro or voyager, as it passes ?
Anyone else noticed this. Any reasons as to why this is ?

Saw a LM Desiro rush into Bletchley today at what must have been about 30 - 40 mph, not braking until half way along the platform and it got me wondering how good the brakes are on trains these days.
Which has the best for their class ?

Today at about 15:03 I witnessed a pendolino slowly heading south through bletchley on the slow lines!
Also saw, at about 15:20, a Desiro screaming through probably doing around, 100mph towards MK Central on the Fast lines, As my train was leaving. Managed to catch a glimpse of it...

I was travelling to London Euston Yesterday aboard a pendolino, and I noticed that at bletchely there are some quite large construction works going on including what looks like a new double track flyover.
Does anyone know what these works are about.
