Pendolino track noise ?

Having experienced countless 390's speed past one thing that's prominent is the noise, presumably from the wheel-rail interface compared to say a desiro or voyager, as it passes ?
Anyone else noticed this. Any reasons as to why this is ?

The Zhew-Zhew-Zhew-Zhew sound is the sound of the airflow being interrupted by the gaps between the carriages if that's the sound your in about.

Stab in the dark, but Pendolinos tend to be twice as long as the other trains you have cited. Twice as many wheels = somewhat noisier.

The wheels and bogies do seem to make more noise than most other trains, it's like a ringing sound but louder than the classic ringing sound of a MK1/2. The only other train I can think of which makes a similiar noise is a MK4 coach.

They are bothbased on european bogies? The pendolino has some alsthom ones, and the MK4 has som deasigned by SIG? Or maybe something to do with being tilt compatible (I know MK4's cant tilt, but it was planned to a version to be able to)

I was just about to say that! The track noise of the Pendolino's and the Mark 4's are very similar. Are they the bogies made by the same company?

I remember reading about the Mark 2 vs the Mark 3 coach track noise on the Caledonian sleeper. I was told that it is the brake types (tread vs disk I think) that cause the mark 2's (and mark 1's) to sound completely different to, and far louder than, the Mark 3's. Could this be the reason? They both have a design speed of 140mph.

Is that the noise made by Pendos/225s, the track interface. I should think so; I can hear the latter well, along with the HSTs and 180s on a quiet night, the ECML being less than 2 miles from my house. Even more so from school, which is the other side. 365s, 317s and 321s make much less of a noise.

Are they the bogies made by the same company?

Yes, SIG bogies are utilised on both the mark 4s and the Pendolinos (Though FIAT took over SIG in 1995, who were then taken over by Alstom in 2000).
