Hi, during the Tube strikes next week I’m considering travelling from Welwyn Garden City to London Victoria, via Thameslink, changing at Denmark Hill or Herne Hill to head back in to Victoria. The TfL Single Fare Finder doesn’t seem to want to show me a Contactless fare for this. What will I be...
Hi all, hoping for a bit of advice about apparent differentials in fares showing across different booking sites.
The family and I are travelling Stevenage to Edinburgh on Wednesday 25 October - two adults and two children with a Family and Friends Railcard.
Even though National Rail indicates...
Hi, can anyone advise how busy the 0706 Oakham to Peterborough service is on a weekday during non-Covid times? Is it rammed? Are there plenty of seats? Something in between?
Can someone confirm that I am ok splitting an annual season from Welwyn Garden City (WGC) to London using an annual WGC-OKL (£1748) + an annual Z1-4 Travelcard (£2020)?
I know this is valid under NRCoT 14.2, but am I likely to have any issues, or is splitting annual seasons like this common?
This evening I attempted to use my Staff Oyster Card to enter London Bridge National Rail Station in order to access Platform 5 to get a Thameslink service northbound through the core.
My card didn’t work so I approached a member of Southeastern staff who was manning the gateline.
She told me...
Given the current Great Northern shambles - does anyone have a good read around what time on a Sunday the Cockfosters car park tends to fill up?
If I arrived around 10am would I be safe?
Hi all
Yesterday I was planning on catching the 17:21 King's Cross-Cambridge service home to Welwyn Garden City, but it was listed as cancelled on the National Rail app as of 16:50 when I would have to start getting packed up to leave the office. So I stayed in the office for an extra 15...
Hi,
Does anyone have access to historic timetable data who could tell me when the non-stop morning-peak services from Welwyn Garden City to Finsbury Park were first introduced?
Currently these run at 06:52, 07:55 and 08:25 but as we know these services are being slowed down with stops added at...
I am not on the electoral register because I am not eligible to vote in this country.
Is this the exclusive means that revenue staff use to verify addresses? If so, they would fail to verify mine.
There is no specific dispute at issue here - just a general question.
Thanks!
What does everyone think about the social acceptability of passengers leaning their heads against train windows, often leaving an oily hair smudge that makes it unpleasant for later passengers to look out the window?
How does this compare to the social acceptability of feet on seats?
I...
I'll be spending several hours tomorrow afternoon in Cardiff with my father and step-mother, who are visiting from overseas. It will by my (and my father's) first time in Cardiff. Can anyone suggest some things to do/see? Doesn't have to be railway related (though that's a plus), and nothing too...
Network Rail has apparently organised walks of the new Hitchin Flyover for Saturday 11 May to support a local charity. Groups depart every half hour from 11:00 to 15:00. £5 each.

I just noticed that when my wife logs into redspottedhanky.com from her account on our shared computer, there is a new interface. When I log in from my account on the computer (whether I log into RSH as me or as her), I get the traditional interface. Doesn't seem to matter which browser we use...
The current thread about (ab)use of staff travel privileges got me thinking about a common practice among my co-workers (non-rail industry): sharing Travelcards. Often when someone in my office wants to go somewhere over the lunch hour, they will borrow a colleague's Oyster season Travelcard. (I...
(Edited.)
My wife needs to go from Welwyn Garden City to Lincoln and back next weekend (31 August – 2 Sept), going up Friday after 5:30 and returning Sunday morning. The through Super Off-Peak Return is £58.00. I can get it down to £49.10 splitting at Peterborough.
She has a Network Railcard...
I'm soon to buy my first-ever annual season and I thought, since it's going to be with me for so long, it may as well look as best it possibly can! The print quality from the booking office ticket printers at Welwyn Garden City is appalling --- low-res and streaky. If I order the ticket from the...
Am I being dense, or has TfL changed the way Oyster charging works this week?
Normally, for example, an off-peak journey from Westminster to Kings Cross St Pancras would be charged as -£4.60 upon touch in at Westminster, and then +£2.60 upon touching out at Kings Cross St Pancras.
Looking...
If I want to use a combination of a season ticket and a non-season ticket to travel on a train that does not stop at the "changeover" station, as I am entitled to do under NRCoC 19(c), can a ticket office issue a seat reservation for the through journey?
Has anyone else noticed some fares missing from brfares.com? Or am I being stupid? E.g., the super off-peak day return from Welwyn Garden City to Audley End (via Cambridge) is missing, though the single remains. I haven't bought NFM12 yet but NRE still shows this fare, so I'm confident it hasn't...
Does Routeing Guide Map WA allow walking between Hertford North and Hertford East?
A simple example is Stevenage to Cambridge, which is valid via map WA.
Would Stevenage > Hertford North > (walk) > Hertford East > Broxbourne > Cambridge be a permitted route?
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
