Afternoon in Cardiff

I'll be spending several hours tomorrow afternoon in Cardiff with my father and step-mother, who are visiting from overseas. It will by my (and my father's) first time in Cardiff. Can anyone suggest some things to do/see? Doesn't have to be railway related (though that's a plus), and nothing too physically demanding as my parents are not especially fit.

Luckily Cardiff is fairly compact as a city centre and pretty much fully pedestrianised.

From a shopping point of view, you have St Davids 2 shopping centre which has a nice John Lewis attached to it. In the older part of the centre, there is a Modelzone. If you go out of the centre and onto The Hayes, you'll see a couple of nice old arcades. In the Royal Arcade you'll find the Ian Allan bookshop.

From a touristy point of view, the best place to go and see is the castle. If you are needing food, you must try out the New York Deli which is in the High St/Duke St Arcade. Their sandwiches are expensive but enormous!!!!

If you are arriving by train, you could always turn left out of the the station and go towards the river to catch the Aquabus down to Cardiff Bay where there is plenty to see.

There are lots of things to do in Cardiff! The shopping is very good and so is the castle, both have been mentioned above so I'll just put down some other suggestions:

For those with less mobility, it might be worth considering the City Sightseeing bus, especially if the weather is fine.

Or

Catch a Baycar bus to Cardiff Bay, have a look around, visit the historic lightship and take the waterbus to Penarth.
Go to Cardiff Indoor Market for a look around, then stroll through the historic arcades which are full of little shops and cafes.

Personally I always spend some time in the Ian Allan Bookshop, which is in one of the arcades!
