    Other Sports....

Knicks win first NBA championship in 53 years to cap playoff run for the ages As a Knicks fan since the early 1990s (I used to spend most of my paper round money on basketball magazines to keep up to date!), it's amazing to see the Knicks finally win a championship after all these years. I was...

    Station pubs (part two?)

Fair point chap. Horses for courses, I guess. I prefer the beer in the Railway, and they have all sports channels on many TVs as well. Decent pool table too.

    Station pubs (part two?)

For those who don't want to take out a second mortgage to buy a pint in Reading at the Oakford Social Club or the Three Guineas right by the station, the Gateway on Greyfriars Road reopened last year as the Railway Tavern. Only a 60-second walk from the station, and pints that start with a 5...

(TRIVIA) Busy stations which hardly anybody walks to

Horses for courses, I guess. All that traffic along the A501 isn't my cup of tea, but there you go! :D

Amen to that. London Bridge northbound any time between 7-9am, anyone? Rinse and repeat at 4-6pm southbound.

    Cab Rides

Years ago (pre-Covid), I was on a rammed central line tube heading eastbound in the evening rush hour. When we got to Bank, the driver opened his (platform) door and let five passengers in, three of whom entered the main carriage through the cab door, and the remaining two got a cab ride!

    Football

Amen to that. He was an awful manager for us at Craven Cottage -- then he had the cheek to cite lack of ambition and bugger off up Shepherd's Bush Road to QPR!!

    Reading Buses and Thames Valley

I can confirm it was doing the square root of f all on the 17 I caught yesterday. Friend of mine who was a couple of buses behind me said the same.

    Reading Buses and Thames Valley

Complete bus novice here, but Reading resident and heading into the town centre later on this afternoon. Are the buses on the 17 route the new EV ones? I'll probably give it a whirl later if so and report back! :D

    Oddball Journeys (Trivia)

Those Alphaline Wales & West early morning services from Waterloo to Wales (Maesteg?) via. Reading spring to mind, if we're doing old services. Caught those a few times, back in the day!

Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

Indeed. I work for an American firm, and some of them have to be heard to be believed. Latest one: I was in the office last week. Two hour meeting. Halfway through, we had a "bio break". True story.

    Football

Couple of West Ham supporting chums of mine suggested that -- due to the whole spygate thing -- they should just do away with the playoffs for this season only and just have a two down / two up scenario

Major rail disruption across Southern England due to radio fault (07/05)

First time in ages that taxis haven't been authorised when Waterloo is in total meltdown. Taxi firms at Woking and Guildford are in for a good night, tonight!
