    COVID-19: School Closures

Being a college student all I can say the closures have wreaked havoc on my education considering it happened at a critical time. I now cannot do my final project due to filming needing to be done in the college and the surrounding area, which cannot be done due to the closure and lockdown. My...

TRIVIA: Services worked by a mixture of bus and coach type vehicles

Stagecoach Route X76 from Kilmarnock to Glasgow. Normally a coach but can throw up an E400 or anything else.

    East Kilbride 6 car services

Looks like there are no 2 cars out on East Kilbride today. It is a variation of 4 and 6 car. Same with Ayrshire which has no single 3 car units out but instead a mix of 4, 6 and 7 car.

    Ferry travel in Scotland

This is a good move. Because there are no doubt if people go to the rural islands that they will ransack all the shops leaving the residents with barely any. If they take essential passengers only, maybe they could also have room to transport more supplies over to the islands.

Drop in passenger numbers sees train services cut

Last High Level departure from Glasgow is the 22:00 to Ayr which will call at all stations. The only West Highland trains that are running are the 08:23 Oban/Mallaig and 12:23 Oban/Mallaig. No 18:21 Oban/Mallaig. The 16:05 Mallaig - Glasgow is running and I'm assuming the 18:11 Oban - Glasgow...

Drop in passenger numbers sees train services cut

ScotRail are running a vast majority of their services. However some are not running at all: Glasgow Central - Barrhead is having the stops picked up by a Glasgow - Kilmarnock service. Surprisingly the Glasgow - Carlisle service is still running throughout.

Emergency last thing in the cupboard meal, and other culinary adventures under confinement

Personally, I think SuperNoodles are go to at this time. They don't expire for ages and they are also very cheap and compact.

    Motherwell Station Redevelopment

Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke do need a decent Edinburgh service as the current provision isn’t enough.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

Yet people are still causing a stink about it on social media. They should be thankful that trains are actually running during this time.

Emergency timetable to deal with coronavirus: what would you propose?

Yep I meant doubling up formations to make up for the reduced frequency.

Emergency timetable to deal with coronavirus: what would you propose?

Agreed. However I think services could be doubled where necessary.

Coronavirus: what impact might it have on the railways?

I'd never ever fair evade. I always buy a ticket at the first opportunity, tho I know several people who would use it as an excuse to dodge.

Coronavirus: what impact might it have on the railways?

I've heard ScotRail have withdrawn on-train ticket issuing. Passengers must purchase from a ticket office, TVM or Smartcard. Though what if the station you board at is unstaffed and has no TVM. Most ScotRail stations aren't gated but ones like Glasgow Central have staff issuing tickets to allow...

Emergency timetable to deal with coronavirus: what would you propose?

For ScotRail: Reduce the Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High to 2tph calling at Croy, Falkirk High, Polmont, Linlithgow and Haymarket. Suspend Barrhead services and have the Kilmarnock service reduced to 1tph picking up the intermediate stops. East Kilbride: no change. Reduce Ayr services...

East Kilbride 4 and 6 car services: From Glasgow Central: 2J02 06:12 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride (6 car) 2J22 06:47 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride (6 car) 2J24 07:12 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride (6 car) 2J26 07:42 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride (4 car) 2J04 08:15 Glasgow Central...

Most Depressing Stretch of Line on the Network

I second this. The barren wasteland that is Smithy Lye coming from the Paisley direction is horrible.

Drop in passenger numbers sees train services cut

Eurostar are also cancelling services from the 21st. 4 a day cancelled, One to Paris and back, one to Brussels and back

Drop in passenger numbers sees train services cut

I've not seen an impact on ScotRail services yet. However from this week I believe that passenger figures will drop across the ScotRail network as fewer people will travel.

    East Kilbride 6 car services

Pollokshaws West may also be quiet due to the fact that a lot of routes straight to the City Centre serve around that area (57/57A, 3, 49, 103), wheras Crossmyloof only has the 34 and 34A.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

This was a service leaving Newcastle at about 5 to 8 in the evening. I agree about the inverness crew. As we got to Aviemore we were the only people in First Class so they just told us to take what we wanted.
