Greater Anglia operates with three different driver T&Cs and salaries exactly as it was in 2004. They are Anglia Railways, Great Eastern and West Anglia. Although the latter two do the most DOO we can all of us operate like that.

It wouldn’t have anything to do with drivers operating the doors. Certain station supervisors may request to the duty traincrew manager upstairs that the shed & ferry or a spare driver pops across and locks one up but it all depends who’s on duty. Like anywhere, some are more proactive than others.

It doesn’t really matter when it comes to railways and there are far worse basket case routes in this country where 30-40 passengers would be seen to be a busy day with far less frequency and much higher running costs.
