    Earth leakage at Willesden Junction?

I once leaned in the signal phone at the end north of platform 2/3 at Nuneaton while waiting for a freight to pass & got a tingling sensation off it. A mate wet himself laughing when I told him. Then he tried it too. Soon shut him up it did.

    SVR class 50 event

It was Shame 026 & 044 had problems. Fingers crossed for 026 as it sounds serious according to one driver. Shame also 008 was only on the ballast demo. 50033 may look like a bag of spanner’s but don’t let its appearance fool you. One hell of a 16csvt lump is inside it. Saying that ALL were good...

    Cornish Class 802 Introduction

I saw a fair few IEP’s during last week on holiday at Dawlish. A lot of Hst’s from GWR & CrossCountry. A couple of surprises were two GWR class 158’s, one in green the other in the old colours, also 2x37’s & a couple of freights. Good weather too. Back home in damp Leicestershire now, ah well.

Trap and Drag at Bushey (26 March 2018)

I remember back when Crewe got remodelled in 1985. I was tootling about on the station when I think a Liverpool to Euston service was leaving. All of a sudden there was much shouting. I turned to see a woman being dragged off the end of the platform holding her handbag which had got caught on...

    Diesel driving experiences, any recommendations?

Was either in the cab or on the cushions enjoying the ride. Then there’s the engine room inspection & the depot walk about. Before you know it the days done & your receiving your certificate

    Diesel driving experiences, any recommendations?

I just celebrated my 50th driving 50035 Ark Royal at the SVR. Day cost £350. There are up to 8 people in the driving group. I drove from Bridgenorth to Arley or around 30 mins. Lots of speed restrictions ie slowing down & accelerating. Had 6 coaches on. Some may cough at the price but I...

A recent ride on the SVR behind 50035 Ark Royal. Because I was driving it on a driver experience day.

Hotels located adjacent to railway lines

Not quite the same I know but the apartment I rent in Dawlish is right by the sea wall. Has a comfy armchair in the big bay window & & Railway magazines too. Does me fine. Railway is about 50 ft away & Realtime trains is my friend.

    Football

Sterling was rubbish & has been for the whole of the World Cup. Overpaid so called footballer. Now Jordan Pickford is worth every penny & much more. Forget Kane. Pickford is my man.

    All nighters on stations.

Just looked at Tamworth for last night (29/6/2018). There were 45 movements between 9pm & 6am. Shame the doors are locked for the high level now. There was however a way of getting on last time I went but as I’ve not been to Tamworth for a session for at least a year it’s probably all overgrown...

    All nighters on stations.

Remember the microwave with the slide up door? Anything cooked in it you ate at your own risk. I think the term “nuke it in the microwave” came from using that exact microwave.

Pacer allocations in the Manchester Area

I was at Manchester Piccadilly yesterday for mainly the 350/4’s & the 319’s. Unit wise I photographed numerous members of the 142, 150, 156, 158, 175, 185, 220, 221, 323, 350 & 390’s. By a country mile the worst were the class 142. Seeing them bounce their way out of Piccadilly was hilarious...

    How popular are diesel galas?

People have gone on about the weather at the diesel gala at the GCR. Although I’ve no idea about the Sunday the Saturday was very pleasant & warm especially from midday onwards right through till gone 6pm. As for the visiting traction, ok it was only a 33 & the GCR already has one but 2 x 33 on...

Were any locomotives delivered in Large Logo Blue from new?

I remember mucking about in a friends bedroom which was about 0.25 mile from the Leicester-Burton freight only line. We heard a loud two tone blast of a train horn so watched from the window to see the loco. It was brand new 56128 passing with a rake of mgr wagons. A lot easier to see than the...
