    Tram and trolleybus overhead power

Was watching a 'touristy' video on YouTube last night set in Zurich and noticed articulated trams and trolleybuses using the same street but wasn't looking closely enough to ascertain how they managed it.

    Cricket

Malan and Willey were chosen as the fall guys from the recent fiasco, strange as they were two of only three imo, four at a stretch, who cane out of it with any credit. Curran and Livingstone were shown not to be suitable ODI players, so why pitch them in again? The notion that Livingstone is an...

    Cold buses

No wonder so many bus conductors perched on the front nearside seats during evening duties, particularly in winter, and many wore fingerless woollen gloves and scarves. Only bus drivers were issued coats, and they were verboten for the poor conductor.

Disappointing/memorable for the wrong reasons bus trips

I'd like to think that was the last time he ever drove a bus. He was obviously just the type of person that certain train companies wanted as RPIs!

What was your favourite bus type as a kid?

I was fortunate enough to see RM1 in its original form on several occasions, but whether I ever got to travel on it then is moot. RML3 is my absolute favourite because of its Leyland engine, though I've only ever travelled on it once. I concur with you on RFs, especially the non-doored red...

OK, you seem to take issue with my posts, so I shan't engage with you in future.

    Shrinkflation - examples?

You must be a joy to shop with! I have no 'problem' with it, by the way, just presenting an example per the thread title.

Does anyone really not know about older people being eligible for concessionary travel passes?

Some London bus drivers have apparently refused to accept that the ECNTS pass is valid on TfL services between the appropriate hours, probably because of the machine non-recognition issue. I'm pretty sure it's ignorance on their part rather than bloody-mindedness. I'd guess some other drivers...

    Cold buses

I'm both elderly and disabled. to the extent that I shall probably not be able to travel on a bus again, but if that guy tried to lean over me to do that I'd give him a piece of my mind, if not my stick.

    Shrinkflation - examples?

My local, small Co-op only stocks two types of mushroom, a small pack of the button kind and a larger pack of the chestnut variety. IMO the button sort are for people who don't really like mushrooms, so it's always the chestnut ones I go for in there. Today I went in for some and noticed the...

All that was basically the Ridley/Thatcher message back in the day. Do you mean re-regulation?

Rishi Sunak and the Conservative Party.

The locals might take it as a reverse of the old saying 'beware of Greeks bearing gifts.'

    Supermarkets discussion

Um, but how much do two bottles cost now? I bet they've increased by more than 11%. Also, unless prices only increase on a strictly annual basis, the figure of 11% is fairly meaningless. My local Costa Coffee has increased prices three times this year on its basic product, round about 10% on...

Trivia: Are there bus companies that still have tree lopping buses

Somewhat ironic message in the circs!

Does anyone really not know about older people being eligible for concessionary travel passes?

I know all that, but if you're not computer savvy you'll need help and you might not bother if you weren't already a bus user. When I re-applied for my blue badge after the statutory three years it was more irksome than the first time even though I knew it couldn't be refused.

Does anyone really not know about older people being eligible for concessionary travel passes?

I'm looking at how you can obtain an ENCTS pass in my area, and it is definitely more complicated than it used to be. For instance, if you attended a local library, which used to be the preferred way, a suitable photo was taken by a staff member, whereas now however you apply you must provide...

    Misinformation from platform officer

It's almost as if a train operator wanted passenger confusion in order to maximise their profits. If it was a car parking company there'd be press coverage about 'scams' but somehow the rail industry mainly escapes this scrutiny. If and when one national rail company is recreated under some form...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Even if they were to be, I suspect that would be the Home Office line. There is at least one well-established YouTube channel that delights in 'auditing' hotels that are, or maybe are about to be, housing asylum seekers. The 'comments' below the videos by and large express nasty racist opinions...
