    Wensleydale Railway

Just fyi the last buses both ways have a habit of running slightly early - they tend to start on time and drive like the clappers and not observe intermediate timing points so don’t cut it too tight!

    Wensleydale Railway

No idea, but on Saturdays there’s at least one 73 bus an hour from Northallerton to Leeming Bar and Bedale so you could get to the WR at either of those, or if you want/need to get to Scruton the bus can drop you at the end of Station Road and it’s about a third of a mile’s walk to Scruton station

    GWR investigation for incorrect railcard

None of us know because we're not employed by GWR, but based on what we've seen before and their published policy (@Fawkes Cat linked to it in post #2) I'd say you have a very good chance as long as you cooperate with them

    GWR investigation for incorrect railcard

I think there are three things you can do before they get in touch: 1 - stop using a discount you're not entitled to 2 - start saving - if you cooperate you'll probably get offered an out of court settlement, but it will cost you 3 - don't be tempted to delete whatever account you've been...

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

That's fairly typical isn't it - a lot of our parliamentary conventions are built around the "good chap" principle, and we've seen in recent years how ill equipped they are to deal with flagrant breaches

    WCR - Jacobite 2026

Bit more info on the northbound highlander arrival into Fort William. Over the last 100 operating days: Early 68 On time 3 Late, but still able to make the morning Jacobite 2 Late, and miss the morning Jacobite 24 Cancelled 3 So, a 70% chance of making the morning Jacobite. By comparison...

    WCR - Jacobite 2026

The southbound sleeper is more reliable (less unreliable?!?) than the northbound, which is logical as it’s at the start rather than end of its journey. I’ve got some data on my laptop - I’ll dig it out later on

    The 'fraud letters' process

Presumably there’s also a need to synchronise the cctv to the barriers, especially at busy stations, if they’re wanting to use it as evidence in a court?

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

    That is 2nd September 2026 right?!?!? ;) :D

    Caledonian Sleeper

But what were they doing there though? Aren’t they kept round the corner at the depot?

    Potential Fare Evading - HELP!

As well as reading the GWR prosecutions policy, it might be a good idea to search for other recent GWR cases on this forum, as it'll give you an idea (not guaranteed though) of how long they're taking to get in touch once they catch people.

I could use your advice, technically valid ticket but ran off

Please don't take this sort of attitude - every single person replying to you on this thread is trying to understand fully exactly what has happened, trying to judge the legalities of it, and trying to give you the best possible advice All for free, out of the goodness of their hearts As I...

    Potential Fare Evading - HELP!

I'm assuming you've been stopped by someone working for GWR. If so, have a read of the prosecution policy on their website - they say they try and avoid prosecution wherever possible, and our experience is that this is indeed what happens So if you stop avoiding fares, engage with them when...

I could use your advice, technically valid ticket but ran off

What price the card isn’t the OPs?

I could use your advice, technically valid ticket but ran off

Is this part of your plan? Or another happy coincidence?

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

It's really simple. One page, "buy a car" in big letters

I could use your advice, technically valid ticket but ran off

How did you get through the barriers if they had your tickets?
