    General Knowledge Quiz

I think the first is 1984, the second is definitely Moby Dick (Ishmael is the narrator). George Orwell and Herman Melville were the writers. Am really not sure on 3 & 4 or a connection.

Starting over: a redesigned UK rail network

Given that this is fantasy realm stuff it is a bit disappointing to see most peoples idea of starting from scratch is still a slightly different version of what we have now and major cities being given the same importance as small commuter towns in the south east with London being the beating...

TT-ONR-NRN critiques... (note: contains large images)

How was it in real life at night? On the photo it looks kind of stark for want of a better word. Lots of white plastic, bright lights. Things can look very different when you are actually there of course.

What's in your rucksack? (or wheely case, etc.)

I have a 40l Osprey Nebula rucksack. I will use it for everything from day trips (It squishes up quite small with clips) to cabin baggage for a weekend to a week away to six months away. I have my iPad mini, my kindle, a small camera, chargers and adaptor, a travel towel (Sometimes a large and a...

TT-ONR-NRN critiques... (note: contains large images)

That was a really good read and very well written, very interesting and entertaining to read, enjoyed your photos as well. The food does look really good on the Virgin West Coast weekday first. It sounds like you had a great time and I loved the odd bits of banter between you and your brother...

Why is the Age of steam engines so beloved by transport enthusiasts?

Blimey that is a shame, they seemed pretty new to me. We got a few from the city centre to our hostel and also out to the Weta Cave in Miami near Wellington Airport (Where Peter Jacksons special effects place is).

Trivia: Individual units/locos you have a like or dislike of... and why?

I love 50031, 50004, 37426 & 37427. Great memories of some incredible thrash. Also 56015. It dropped on a Cross Country service from Lime Street I picked up at Runcorn on a North West Day Ranger. This was pre internet and mobile phone days so there were no other bashers on it or waiting at...

Trivia: Individual units/locos you have a like or dislike of... and why?

Blimey I really wish I could answer that in more detail, back in the day I had a list of 31's, 47's, 86's, 87's and 90's that always seemed to drop on trains I was on. Even 50035 and 37430 used to do my head in for the same reason, and I adore 50's and 37's, what I wouldn't give for them still...

what are the loadings like on the Emirates A380's? I'd be interested to see what they do instead if the A380 goes out of production.

    Carillion in Liquidation

Mate I really am genuinely sorry to hear that. I am proud to work supporting the armed forces and so are my colleagues, a large number of whom are ex forces and some are married to forces personel and living in service families accommodation. I'd rather not even send a PM at the mo, we have been...

Service changes at Liverpool - WMR/long distance

Regional Expresses is one way of describing overcrowded Desiros and a few 158's. Ha ha.

Service changes at Liverpool - WMR/long distance

So technically what we are saying is Liverpool gets 1 inter city service an hour to anywhere (London). Pretty poor show for one of the larger cities in the country.

Branson overrules VTWC - Daily Mail once again to be available onboard

By todays terms he was quite a socialist well above the age of 40. Mind you these days people think that Tony Blair is/was a socialist.

Sad to see another one of Liverpool's few inter city services turned in to a stopper.

    Facebook - Your Opinions.

A good mate of mine once said he was sticking to Twitter because Facebook was full of K**b heads. I pointed out the the K**b heads were people he added as friends. He still uses Facebook, he just doesn't add random people any more.
