    Railway Pubs of Yorkshire

What a tremendous resource. Thank-you. I shall be making good use of this during the summer! Spoons-wise, the one in Todmorden is about 100m from the station, and on the occasion of my Todmorden pub crawl a year ago served better beer than The Queen! Mind you, there are probably a dozen pubs...

    Juliano's World Frenzy/Tech's Trip Reports

I suspect more people buy train tickets from Shippea Hill to Teesside International Airport than travel all the way from Rochdale to Haverfordwest on the 528, especially as splitting tickets makes the train for the latter considerably cheaper, as well as faster - even via the Central Wales...

    Rambling Roebuck... (Trip Reports)

Not done much so far this month. Just a trip to Padgate for a quiz. Nice to revisit a station for a normal* reason, rather than just "because it's there". However, I have a week off work starting on 25/3, so a spot of trip planning has been in order. I'm "busy" (quizzing again) Friday and...

Thanks. The 81s were mostly scored on ned leaps around Birmingham in 84/5/6. 82002 and 83013 were both thrown out by Longsight for Sunday ADEXes. I also recall seeing a photo years ago of 84001 on an ADEX which I was probably on, but didn't record the haulage at the time. Not claiming it yet...

It's been a slow start to 2019 for me. Apart from an out and back trip to Manchester on the tram, my first rail action of the year was on Friday 22/2 when I had a trip to the death place of King Richard II, in order to cadge a lift to the death place of King Richard III. 158752 did the honours...

    2019 New Haulages

A very late start this year. 23/2/19 158786 322484 (Class 322 cleared, for nearly as few brownie points as you get for the 139s)

    55013's Contemporary Trip Reports

In regards to Bradford Interchange catering, some while ago I had a pair of rather good Samosas from somewhere on the station - by the barriers I think, but twas long ago. As far as 2019 goes, I've had a tram ride to Manchester and back and that's it so far. Tempted by the gala at the ELR next...

    On this day in history.

19/01/1985 40044 Birmingham to York (last run on a 40 on a service train for me) 47105 York to Birmingham 19/01/2002 91013 Berwick upon Tweed to Edinburgh 91110 Edinburgh to Berwick upon Tweed (Seems as though this was renumbering time)

    Back on the platform

A most enjoyable read. One thing you might enjoy in the future is a diesel gala at one or other of the Heritage Railways - gives you a chance to sample haulage by (and the strange noises made by) a variety of yesteryears locos.

Happy new year, folks. Inspired by 55013 on his thread, here's my current state of play for things had in the past. Looking at it, the number one target for a swift class-clearance is 322484. As South Elmsall is a required shack, a small excursion to Yorkshire could kill two birds with one...

Anywhere in the UK return for a tenner in 1980

Did one of these in (I think) 1988. Went Manchester - Oxford - Reading - Barnstaple - Ilfracombe - Taunton - Reading - Manchester as I remember. Only haulage I recall is 50026 from Oxford to Reading, did 47xxx from Reading to Exeter on the sleeper, then a 1st gen DMU out to Barnstaple - I recall...
