I'd want them to use whoever was cheapest that met the need.
Actually, before that I'd question why Network Rail are running private charters for their staff, and if it's quango largesse hope for, but not expect, it to be a target for cutting.
My money would be on a large order for 4 car versions of whatever CAF or Hitachi are making at the time, but a bit later than that, towards the end of the 2030s
They could only prove that someone used a railcard discounted ticket without being able to present a valid railcard if they had stopped someone at the time. It's no different in that respect to any other ticket.
This is TFW. Not delivering what they promise is one of the few things they're good at. Nobody will be surprised if it doesn't happen, and nobody will be accountable so no eggs needed!
Can't remember the consensus last time around, but ones that usually get a mention include Blackfriars to City Thameslink, Penge West to Anerley and Hillington East to Hillington West, plus a couple in the Cardiff area I don't know.
I don't think that's odd, it's just the railway's fault for pushing people to split ticketing. The invalid ticket when they checked was London U1 to Milton Keynes, what tickets someone had before that should be irrelevant. That they were checked and incorrectly allowed is also the railway's...
How do these honest passengers (yourself, presumably) witness this? How can any passenger possibly know whether another passenger has (or needs) a ticket?
Was that wrong? It certainly took around that time for a loco swap at Crewe when that was how Euston to Holyhead was worked.
Many guards would announce it and suggest people who wanted to have a smoke go on to the platform to do so.
You travelled on the 1553, so just put it in a delay repay claim for it. There's some terrible "advice" and over-thinking on this thread. It's completely irrelevant that you thought you might have travelled on a later service - you didn't. It's also completely irrelevant if you weren't waiting...
That's a meaningless thing for C2C to say, though. Completely unenforceable - nobody is checking a passenger's age before they board, and there's no law saying someone can't travel unaccompanied.
You get this a lot though - "rules" written by someone based on what they think should be the case...
