One for the knowledgeable i hope (coaching stock)

Presumably no-one has asked for Mk4 or 5 to be approved. This has "always" been the case, even in steam days when route clearance was simpler.

Huddersfield diversions indicating untapped demand for services

It indicates an understandable preference for such a service. Evidence of untapped demand would be shown by increased passenger numbers, though of course a month a short time to detect a trend.

Why is Eurostar so slow between Brussels and Amsterdam?

The journey from Brussels to Amsterdam is actually just under 2 hours on Eurostar, which includes (as you are finding) the slow exit through the suburbs and on a very busy route with maximum speeds of 120 then 160km/h to Antwerp. After that you are mostly on 300km/h track except through...

    KWVR NEWS AND UPDATES

I was startled by the gloss finish as my limited memories are from the very end of the brick-red era (and wooden-bodied stock!).

Book(s) on the Cross Country Sleeper Services?

Those two cars were mainly for intermediate stations beyond NCL - the 2xSK indicate that it ran as an ordinary train on that section (I didn't remember it being 2nd class only).

Huddersfield diversions indicating untapped demand for services

Not really, as all the trains will be running via Dewsbury into Leeds. It's the Calder Valley freights (which continue East via Wakefield) that will be kept clear of TPE etc.

    How Viable are Preserved Railways?

You reserve the number of seats they have booked for (no reductions for no-shows).

Penalty fare notice stage 3 failure

AFAIK no. But in any case previous replies have explained that the PF was a correct response to your situation.

Book(s) on the Cross Country Sleeper Services?

Hardly XC - where did you mean? There was a Bristol to Newcastle back in the day, attached to the Postal IIRC.

    *International* Guess The Station

Exactly - not many diesel-worked lines in the Alps! And this was the unit I was on. You can probably work out where - but over to you.

    *International* Guess The Station

    Standard (only).

    *International* Guess The Station

Assuming you mean Podbrdo, you are on the right lines As are you.

    *International* Guess The Station

    Wrong country.

Apologies for the delay - how about this Alpine location? Photo from 2013.

    Traveling with expired railcard

If they have mis-identified any of the journeys, then by all means query it. Otherwise I would agree with your decision to pay the full amount, though I find the admin charge excessive. You are unlikely to get anywhere with challenging the use of Anytime Single fares.

    10.42 Ramsgate to Charing Cross

Is this one of the service reductions to allow additional engineers' patrolling?

    Fare evasion

Looks OK to me - but while GTR almost always agree to settle, they may well check your travel history first, and come back to you about other fares you might have underpaid.

Help with response to Letter from GTR

Could I politely suggest looking at a map? It shows Biggleswade as 19 miles North of Leagrave, not between Leagrave and London. It's about 10miles further from London by train too. I mention this because your story isn't going to sound plausible to someone from GTR, so in your reply I would...

    Trivia: Early-running passenger services

They shouldn't, but it does happen occasionally, and there are one or two places where this is permitted (it came up not so long ago) because there are so many trains. Waterloo East going to Charing X, etc. This thread is slightly different because it's basically about trains arriving very...

    *International* Guess The Station

Almost - S.Maria Maggiore. The unit in #2 is definitely FART/SSIF.
