    Leon to San Sebastian query

I can't get RENFE to sell this on weekdays either. The connection may be too tight or they may not have got around to adding the combination. I've had exactly the same with 2 AVEs either side of Madrid - they insist on 2hr or so for a through ticket whereas RE/DB/IR would have allowed me to...

GWR No first class availability on Plymouth trains tomorrow morning

Glad you got there :) Dare I say that September is prime holiday time for the child-free generation - some, more or many of whom will choose to travel 1st (I am among them!).

SWR - Travel Irregularity Report, Historical Short faring & Advice on how to proceed

Looks fine, but if the mails were addressed to your wife I think replying as from her (with her agreement of course, but I take that as read!) might be the correct thing. Small point maybe but ...

    Leon to San Sebastian query

RENFE will not sell through tickets unless they have programmed it, usually with a substantial buffer at the likes of Madrid. Valladolid isn't the direct route of course.

    Tarka Line Travails

When the trains concerned are formed 3 car 158 (as booked?) is there still a problem beyond (say) Crediton? Genuine question

    European timetables 2027

Interesting - engineering works the cause? I wonder what alternative route is planned - at a guess through Nordhausen.

Metropolitian line and Beeching: what might have happened?

If I'm not mistaken, Watford was always quiet but a convenient terminal, the real business was from Northwood et al. Beeching would have been too late to stop Chesham electrification, but if BR had been handed everything beyond Moor Park in 1948 one could imagine a completely DMU solution -...

Last use of non-bogie passenger carrying stock on scheduled services

As the OP didn't specify BR, there's the Talyllyn and Festiniog which have continued to use their 4-wheelers. (Don't think the modern rebuilds of bungalows etc count though, impressive though they are.)

Transalpin Route - OBB Rail Replacement Bus

And it says "some" long distance trains.... If the service is reduced eg to 2-hourly it may make some extra stops to cover. @Austriantrain is the one to ask ..

Travelling to and from Europe on Interrail pass

You ask Interrail and they will increase the number of home days accordingly - plenty of anecdotal evidence. Some countries (IIRC including Benelux) are already on 3 home days That is perfectly legit. Similarly, I shall be using an inward day to travel Plymouth-Saltaire after an overnight stop...

Travelling to and from Europe on Interrail pass

...to which you need to add the OP's fares to and from Huddersfield. From Up North, or indeed Out West, that IME invariably makes a pass worth it provided you can get the Eurostar fare - and if you can't Eurostar is likely to cost way more than £39 :( So to the OP my advice would be (1) don't...

Eurailpass becomes Interrail from 9 September 2026

A quick search online suggests Interrail sales outnumber Eurail about 2 to 1 in number (though I wonder if the value of Eurails is a bit higher?). The merger has therefore chosen the right option.
