One little detail which hasn't, I think, been mentioned: TfL' standard practice over the years is to prosecute for a single offence under their Bylaws, that of ticketless travel (I forget the exact words) - in other words, the entry-level offence. I don't think we've often (at all?) seen them...

That gives a lot of flexibility for unit swaps, and for running extra trains compared with the base timetable. Routinely ES runs half hourly on Paris and even extras to Brussels.

The connection at North is valid (5min) but you risk being stranded there for an hour if the 1954 is a bit late. I'd be inclined to wait for the direct train at 2006 though technically you should ask permission as your Advance specifies the fast.
