    Grounds for appeal?

I think checking the signage is only relevant where you enter/start, or if there’s somewhere on route where you can interchange without leaving the platform area. I don’t think there’s any obligation to place signs aimed at people leaving a station from the platform area.

    Northumberland Line reopening: progress updates

I’d say yes, at least it’s got the platforms and footbridge exactly right. I think the ‘big caption’ is a bit north of where I’d place it, but that’s a minor point.

    Northumberland Line reopening: progress updates

I thought my proposed location having a brand new station visible under it might have been a good enough hint, but maybe they don’t bother looking at their own satellite view…

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I think the end being completely open is a new feature, but I found a report (that was previously linked in post #9111) confirming the main framework was restored in situ...

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

It’s a bit shorter at the south end, pending further changes to the track layout for the routes to the new island platform . Apparently it will also be lengthened at the north (Leeds) end. One of the planning docs mentioned it wouldn’t be quite as simple as moving existing roof sections from...

    Northumberland Line reopening: progress updates

I was looking at Google maps a few weeks ago, and noticed the location of Blyth Bebside was wrong, ie the station was shown at the level crossing. So I proposed an edit using the ‘location has moved‘ reason, and suggested putting the markers at the station footbridge position. They have both...

What do you want to see from the next 200 years of UK rail?

So is that onboard food, or onboard unwanted emails? o_O :D

Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

An up flyover would run straight into the A40 overbridge, so not without moving major road, I’d have thought. And the present junction is slap bang on top of a canal junction and lock, just to make it even less practical.

Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

It’s been known for some time, from the NR track layouts and line speeds etc posted and discussed earlier in this thread, that that is the end result. But I don’t think that’s ever been seriously suggested, and given the available width of the site that would leave the through line with a...

Great Western (and other TOCs) - nationalisation

You missed the sarcasm presumably. But I agree, the way things are, there‘s little any government can do about it.

Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

Is it possible the Hanborough reversal idea predated P5 becoming the main down through platform, and the reversals would now use P4?

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

Yes, it was clearly planned well in advance - someone posted the SA drawing that had a dated change to the whole station‘s numbering during the blockade.

Transpennine Route Upgrade and Electrification updates

I’m certain they’ll continue - with the entire area being fenced off it can be treated as a normal ‘high street’ construction environment separated from the railway. 1759140526 I saw a couple of P3 signs in last nights Sarah Bell video, but P2 didn’t seem to have numbers at that time, but of...

Oxford Corridor Phase 2 & Platform 5 updates

IIRC from the PWI video, the southern abutment will be a single concrete beam, (or is it a box?), supported either side of the existing 4 track railway, ie there’ll be a large conventional concrete pile cap either side of the tracks within the embankment footprint, but no foundation directly...

    Weymouth Harbour Station

It’s gone. Google Earth aerial view is not up to date, you need to move around a bit on Streetview, moving into the Pavilion car park should get you a newer view: https://maps.app.goo.gl/jNPuAtZxa6Gz5htD6 (Link to 2023 Google Streetview image showing the empty site of the former station/ferry...

Great Western (and other TOCs) - nationalisation

We already knew about that from the earlier ‘nationalisations’ though. Your question has been asked before, and there was no clear answer to whether a GBR branded TOC could go the other way subsequently. I’m quite looking forwarded to DFT getting XC staff to work normally at weekends for...

Great Western (and other TOCs) - nationalisation

Well there’s LNER, SWR, Northern, to give three nationalised examples operated by ‘DfT Operator Ltd’, as explained in a number of similar threads over the last few months…

When did lineside fencing become common on the railway and why?

As usual there’s plenty of photographic evidence that the branch was fenced in the usual manner, for example this website includes many scenes with typical fencing of the time: https://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/princetown-branch.html (I haven’t provided a text extract, the point is to...

Stockton and Darlington 200 anniversary- Locomotion 1 recreation run 26-28 September

Did the lucky few able to travel in the ‘passenger carriage’ really need to wear hi-vis? o_O I’m surprised the requirement wasn’t extended to the loco crew…
