Trivia: National Rail served stations that have no public road access

The title states stations without public road access. At North Sheen you will have to consider us of a senior citizen age as the walk includes two flights of steps of a footbridge. Have you done that walk with a bicycle or seen parents with young children and prams.?

Why did Tramlink not go to Selsdon/Sanderstead?

It terminates in the centre of New Addington close to the Central Parade shopping centre and leisure centre. There was an early proposal to extend it further along the Central Parade but in my opinion I accept there seemed little value in doing so.

On the Spa Valley Railway although it was once a double line in BR days it is now a single line but......... Sections of the second track now form sidings. The single line changes several times from one side of the formation to the other. Finally, more importantly, the one mile of single line...

Window Hanging Again - heritage railway enthusiast says its ok

"As a volunteer on a preserved railway, I have lost count of the number of enthusiasts who have put themselves in real danger, such as taking photos in a place where there is clearly no position of safety as a train approaches, and invariably the response is along the lines of "I know what I am...

Removing open access operators from the network by 2029

No No No. The whole idea of Great British Railways is to abolish train operating companies and to have one unified passenger service. I remember BR services of pre- 1994 when you could buy a ticket from A to B and catch any train. Simple. If you want cheaper tickets then it be by time...

    Closed heritage railway stations.

West Hoathly station was demolished around 1967-68 many years before the Bluebell Line bought the station site. I understand that West Hoathly station was not rebuilt/reopened because of objections from local residents/ Parish Councils, etc. When the line was reopened through the site trains...

Full Brighton Mainline Closure - 13th July 2025

Interesting as there is a long signal section such that a train cannot depart Lingfield until the train in front arrives at East Grinstead a timing of 7 minutes for stopping trains and maybe 5 or 6 minutes for fast trains therefore more realistic capacity of around 7 or 8 trains per hour for the...
