Not allowed to board Lumo service because of oversized backpack

I believe lumo introduced this policy after some customers brought very large amounts of luggage with them that took up other seats and caused a lot of issues for other customers. Provided it’s communicated clearly when a customer is buying a ticket then I don’t see an issue. They didn’t exist a...

Valid routes for London to Glasgow with break of journey at Manchester or Sheffield/Barnsley

Broadly, yes - London to Glasgow is permitted via Manchester - London to Glasgow is also permitted via Sheffield and Barnsley but you might then have to go via Leeds, Settle and Carlisle which can be slower than, and is less frequent than, via York and Newcastle (I haven't checked the maps)...

Routing adding validity to a ticket

You consider the routes: - Reading to Evesham, and Evesham to Worcester (joining these up at Evesham); or - Reading to Stroud, and Stroud to Worcester (joining these up at Stroud). You do not consider Reading to Worcester.

Uber Travel Still Bug Filled And Near Impossible To Use For Rail Tickets

I tried a journey from Ockley to London Victoria on 8th March (out at 09.30 and back at 14.30) and was correctly offered a Travelcard for £21.30, as well as other fares. What exactly were you trying? I have sometimes seen this too. Do you have an example here? Any examples would be helpful...

Rerouting when 64 minutes late to get back on schedule - request denied

It’s irrelevant right now and has been for the past three years. All revenue from Avanti goes to the government. All revenue from LNWR goes to the government. So the total revenue received is identical in both cases. All that the TOCs need to do is to run trains on time.

RDG Retailers not offering E-tickets (eg non tube, Merseyrail etc journeys)

I am referring to situations like this: - flow from A to B route ZZZ is gated and equipped with barcode readers at one or both ends - some ticket types are eTicket enabled in RCS - other (often very common, like FOS, FOR and SVS) ticket types are not eTicket enabled, for no obvious reason - when...

Shortest route query - Acton Bridge to Manchester

There are two sets of distance data 1. the data you see in the published timetable - the eNRT data 2. the data used by journey planners - from the routeing guide They are not the same. Journey planners must use #2. This shows that the shortest distance (wholly by rail) from Acton Bridge to...

Shortest route query - Acton Bridge to Manchester

Yes, but this is meaningless I’m afraid. The shortest route between Carlisle and Dover is probably by train to dalston then to walk to Martin mill then train to Dover. Just a few miles! But also, obviously, ridiculous (and not supported by data). In determining the shortest route it’s the data...

Random thought / question: why are season tickets non-transferable?

Why not, if it’s cheaper than buying a separate ticket each day? Season tickets are assumed to have 240 return journeys per year, if I remember correctly.

RDG Retailers not offering E-tickets (eg non tube, Merseyrail etc journeys)

This won't cost the DfT, RDG, TfL or the taxpayer anything - the 'funds' will be recouped over time through the barcode cost recovery programme, i.e. from retailers.

Random thought / question: why are season tickets non-transferable?

You're not paying for 7 days. You are paying for (depending on the route) for between 2 and 4 days, usually. They are non-transferable to prevent exactly what you are thinking of, and causing revenue loss.
