Who are Yorkshire's big winners and losers in the NPR reboot? I'm genuinely confused.

As someone who lives near Bradford and rarely visits, interchange is currently handy in its placement. All it realistically needs is some electrification. If i was to be dumped at this planned new station in the back of a really not nice bit of Bradford i would not be happy. From an...

Who are Yorkshire's big winners and losers in the NPR reboot? I'm genuinely confused.

I also guess Bradford would still want a decent dwell time at the station, maybe 3 or more minutes THe provision at the moment seems right. Its been a long while since i have struggled to grt on a Leeds service at Bramley (when trains arent short formed such as 1x2 car 195 or a 2 car 158 on the...

How do you solve a problem like Bradford?

I have been to Bradford enough times having to change at interchange onto something that doesnt skip Bramley. The fact that interchange could do with more than a Greggs doesnt necessitate building a whole new station and railway alignment. The services are hardly poor though and more...

How do you solve a problem like Bradford?

At this point it would be quicker and easier to pick up the entirety of Bradford and move it a few miles to the South. I honestly cannot see what benefit it will realistically get which doesnt complete match the situation it has currently, just with shorter dwell times, benefiting those who...

How do you solve a problem like Bradford?

I look forward to having my services through Bradford improved and less reason to spend any time there. Semi in jest. However i do think any new alignment or rail station in Bradford will be the first thing - of many - to disappear from this iteration of NPR

    Leeds station improvement updates

I would say the main problem, other than of course the platform 17 issue, is the large number of people who stop and wait at the information boards immediately after the gateline, especially if a London service gets cancelled. I think once the main entrance is fully up and running as well it...

    Leeds station improvement updates

Yes, thats an area that needs improvement certainly, though thankfully i never have to use platform 17 so cannot suppose what improvements are a good idea.

    Leeds station improvement updates

I agree, i use the station daily at rush hour and have never had any issues with the footbridge, other than escalators not escalating and sometimes the narrow set of stairs to the 9-11 island getting very congested.

Major Engineering Work Planned at Clifton (Cumbria) to Replace WestCoast Mainline Bridge Over M6 - Jan 2026

When this bridge was restricted to one train at a time, was this hardwired into the signalling? If one side was green the other would automatically be red, or was it undertaken in a different manner?

    Storm Goretti disruption - 8/9 January 2026

I was thinking how many people would this require. 2 people with chainsaws A COSS Extra signallers to deal with the work load possible isolation staff if the train is under OLE and the tree has come down on them and then double up for working hours and then multiply by number of trains etc...

    Storm Goretti disruption - 8/9 January 2026

No need to be rude, i merely asked you for your source of weather information, as the model i was looking at was showing less severe observations than yours. My observations were from looking at multiple weather models, and they consistently show that the majority of the Netherlands is...

    Storm Goretti disruption - 8/9 January 2026

Can you share your source for this? Current webcams over most of the netherlands show a max of 2-5cm of snow, with a lot of that from previous days, with some areas having no lying snow. Current temperatures are showing as 3 degrees and max wind gusts of 40 knots in gronigen.

But arent routes closing because of predicted weather. The same you have called upon above. Do i think that sometimes the railway throws in the towel to easily. Yes, especially in yellow weather warnings, however we are about to get some exceptional winter weather by 21st century standards, and...

    Storm Goretti disruption - 8/9 January 2026

So do you think bridges should remain open to high sided vehicles in windy weather? I have seen enough trucks blown over in yellow weather warnings on motorways that werent bridges. Unfortunately/fortunately the TOCs have a duty of care to passengers and to their staff. its very much a case of...
