Leeds Bradford Airport Parkway Business Case and Engineering Report

I suggest closing the airport entirely and moving it to Church Fenton to allow a nice little gadgetbahn to run from Church Fenton station to the airport....I like the sound of Church Fenton International:D

Comparison of bus vs rail usage for justifying rail line reopenings

for the port road example could you compare that to an express bus from carlisle to Stranraer? I dont know what if anything currently exists, so should the discussion include long distance scheduled coach services?

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

Yes. Apart from parts upkeep and maintenance, fuelling to move something twice the weight, cleaning time, cost to refurbish, cost to lease, cost to buy, cost for more stabling space I guess the only bits which remain constant are the cost for a single guard and a single driver.

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

Which results in no case. A diversionary route does not a business case make. The route between York and Northallerton is certainly one of the better areas of the ECML in terms of resillience, and would be a lot more if headspands were replaced with portals. I dont see why TPE would want to...

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

This 100%, we would likely have a lot more railway, with marginally more income and a lot more cost. If the network had limped past the 60s, would it make it beyond the 70s? the 80s? the 90s? Cars and trucks became a lot better in that time period as did roads. That was the way of the world...

Sign language on train route information displays (and station departure boards)

What a foul post, suggesting it is gesture politics to improve accessibility to people who through a disability may not be able to understand written English. If i go to a foreign country, i dont expect to be reading things in English, so i dont see why the Polish bit is relevant. Also BSL is...

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

Would that count for 2 entries and exits on the hypothetical train journey? There is a thread which asks to define no brainer. This line would define a No Hoper...same as Waverley and the Port Road.

Sign language on train route information displays (and station departure boards)

I understand the initial ignorance about BSL. I was suprised to learn that a lot of deaf people, especially those who are born deaf will know BSL as a first language and will not always know or will struggle to understand written English. Having modern displays is great and this is an added...

ECML animals incident near Grantham 20-21/8

That southern access point really isnt suitable for coach access, its truly horrible. It also requires a long walk along the tracks to get to and assuming someone has the key to the access then you need to arrange travel to a suitable onward point. This of course isnt specific to this location...

What does the term "no brainer" mean in the context of ideas for reopenings etc?

No brainer is often used by people who are only seeing the narrowest of viewpoints of their chose scheme and take no consideration into wider aspects/problems. For example people suggesting Skip-Colne tend to ignore the lack of paths into Leeds, where the services would originate to and from...

Why doesn't Ripon have a train line towards Harrogate or York?

Surely you would have all trains going to Harrogate if it were to exist and i cant imagine there being any capacity to support any extra services via Knaresbrough to York. If we can't build the third line north of York station, then any other improvements on the way out to Knaresbrough are...
