    St Enoch Terminus Glasgow question.

Old article from Rail Magazine, think it was around 1998, says the tunnel could have been open by 2005. 1770895376 The last time that scheduled passenger trains used platforms 1 and 2 to access the link to High Street was the weekend before the Blue Trains came into service, the line through...

    St Enoch Terminus Glasgow question.

Think this is something I posted on FB! A number of years ago I sketched up this very idea on my Website "Lowland Locomotives", it was not based on any official schemes, just something that I thought would be a possibility, but I did not include closure of Queen Street. It is still described...

BR Mystex Origins and Destinations (Trivia)

The Glasgow Mystex trains were usually out of season utilisation of the stock used for summer dated services, hence the fairly inevitable destinations of Morcambe, Blackpool or York (truncated Scarborough service). The Southport and Chester runs were unusual though.

'Drawing up' - assuming this is no longer practiced, when was the last train to 'draw up'?

When Carstairs was being rebuilt in the early 1970s, the platform was shortened at the south end but before the equivalent extension was constructed at the North end, the few WCML services running via Carstairs had to double draw at the station.

What are the least used heritage railway stations.

A really odd one is Kinneil Halt on the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway. It still appears in the name of the railway and in the timetable but no trains show as stopping.

What lines, closed either by Beeching, or later, in the 70's would be viable now, if they had remained open?

Surprised that the Waverley Route hasn't been mentioned. If the line as a whole had been stripped back to a basic single track line with minimal costs for a period, later developments such as RETB could have saved the southern section while the Northern section as we have seen has been a great...

WW II SRRS UK strategic railway

Some building took place to ease potential pinch points that could pose a problem in the event of attack. One that immediately comes to mind is the WCML just north of Carlisle Citadel, where an additional two tracks were laid including a second bridge over the Caldew and Eden
