Trivia: Stations that are electrified but have no electric trains calling.

For years there used to be a once a day in each direction 360 that called at Needham Market until around 2019 and then it got scrapped. It ran Stowmarket to London in the morning peak and London to Stowmarket in the evening peak. So it meant Needham Market always got two electric trains a day.

Trivia: Physically connected neighbouring train stations with no regular direct train service.

Lakenheath to Shippea Hill and Shippea Hill to Lakenheath counts in both directions as having no direct services calling at both.

Trivia: Independent bus operators with the most amount of depots.

Which independent bus operator has the most amount of bus depots? Obviously the big group operators always have lots of depots but it is rare for small independent bus operators to have more than one depot. Compass Bus are a small independent and now have four depots and this is by far the...

Trivia: Stations that are electrified but have no electric trains calling.

Millbrook is electrified but has zero electric trains booked to call. The entire timetable in both directions and on all days of the week is diesel trains. Is this the only one on the network? Can anyone think of any other electrified stations with zero electric trains booked to call?

Trivia: Physically connected neighbouring train stations with no regular direct train service.

Redbridge to Totton (Southbound) actually has two trains a day. Totton to Redbridge (Northbound) has zero trains. So this one is an oddity in that you can only travel directly in one direction.

East Sussex upcoming bus service changes.

I agree the frequency could do with an increase. I have always thought that the 270/271/272/273 should all be made hourly (the 270/273 are already hourly so its just the 271/272 that need an increase from every two hours each to hourly each) which would give a combined four buses per hour...

East Sussex upcoming bus service changes.

I think an hourly (or even two hourly) 24/7 night bus running Brighton - Patcham - Pyecombe - Hassocks - Burgess Hill - Wivelsfield - Haywards Heath - Cuckfield - Balcombe - Crawley - Gatwick Airport would be perfect. This is a missed opportunity. It is a popular travel corridor and Mid Sussex...

    Bus fare 724

Just to add to what others have said it is worth pointing out that the £3.00 single fare cap is valid on both the 724 and 725 buses. They both run along the Heathrow to Uxbridge to Watford route. They run hourly each and provide a combined half hourly service. So you can take either a 724 or 725...

The full list of changes for all of East Sussex have now been published on the East Sussex County Council website this morning: https://www.eastsussex.gov.uk/roads-transport/public/journeyplan/changes-to-bus-services Not that much else changing other than what was already mentioned. Big Lemon...

    Rationalising Railcards

    There are a lot more than 9 railcard types available. I count at least 24 railcards that are currently available. There may well be even more that i have missed. • 16-17 Saver (50%) (£35.00 1year) • 16-25 Railcard (33%) (£35.00 1year OR £80.00 3year) • 26-30 Railcard (33%) (£35.00 1year) •...

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

St Ann Without is more of a rural hamlet than a village. But it has its own St Ann Without Parish Council and is its own civil parish so i count it as a village. But my point was that it may well be the smallest place in the UK to get a 24/7 bus service. I am almost certain that it will hold the...

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

No not really. I have never noticed many students in the town. Lewes is a very expensive place to live. It is not the sort of place you would find student housing. The students are mostly along the Lewes Road corridor in Brighton and other parts of the city.

Where to find trains in Austin, Texas

Austin has a suburban railway line called Austin Cap Metro Rail which runs from the City Centre to an area about 30 miles North of the city. https://www.capmetro.org/rail It uses diesel multiple units. This is probably the easiest train to get photos of. There are plenty of places near the...

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

Those old 320 and 380 services were interesting. They were very short lived. They only ran two journeys a day (both overnight) and in one direction only. But a return ticket purchased from the bus driver on the 320 or 380 was valid on Southern trains to make a return journey.

East Sussex upcoming bus service changes.

There are a lot of changes to bus services in East Sussex from next month: https://www.herstmonceuxparish.org.uk/uploads/202604-wealden-district-changes-to-bus-services.doc Currently i can only find the Wealden document. They always produce five documents (Eastbourne / Hastings / Lewes /...

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

Brighton & Hove and Metrobus are scrapping return tickets from next week: https://www.buses.co.uk/Fares-March https://www.metrobus.co.uk/Fares-March This is ridiculous. Why would you scrap the most useful ticket type. Every bus operator is doing this in the last few years. Arriva and First...

Passport prices to increase yet again from next month.

I have always thought that is such a stupid rule. Surely all that matters is that your passport is valid for your stay. You should even be allowed to travel on the final day of validity if you are going for a day trip. Some countries only require your passport to be valid for your stay so i have...
