    Supermarkets discussion

I'm old enough to remember going to Boots to see the latest video games. They also sold a lot more electrical items then too. Their sandwiches are quite nice actually and they seem to do a decent range of snacks to go with the meal deal, although I haven't had one for some considerable time...

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

It has been known for athletes to attend an event abroad and then stay on, claiming asylum, in some cases. Not that I think there's any chance of anyone wanting to do that in the USA right now!

    Reform UK discussion

That's the most important one. They need rid of that to hope to do anywhere near as much as what they're doing in the USA right now. And to convince people to give up their own rights, they need to be convinced that those rights are being abused by the people they don't like.

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

379s were a problem but not the others.

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Today is going to be fun. A broken down engineering train near Welham Green means no GN Inners from WGC to Moorgate. King's Cross services will call all stations southbound, and all but Brookmans Park, Welham Green and Hatfield northbound. Sevenoaks cancelled (running from Blackfriars) and...

Cycles at Stations: Red Rear Light Safety Risk?

The GTR posters about bike restrictions do ask for lights to be turned off.

    LNER Stevenage Pickup/Setdown

I can't see why anyone would really care about people going south, on the basis that everyone else is already seated (or standing in their own little space). Sure, there will likely be a few that plonk themselves down in first class and may well get in the way of others preparing to alight...

Great Northern - Northern City Line to TFL?

While HCC is getting a little better on public transport, it still fills me with dread to think that if we had a problem with TfL's operation outside of London, we would be expected to go to our local councillor to raise concerns and expect any level of resolution.

Can you get sued for attempting to administer CPR?

If you were in the USA, you'd likely tell someone to stop because you can't afford the ambulance or treatment. The patriotic thing to do is die. I do think a reason this myth refuses to die (sic) is because people are scared in such situations and would like to convince themselves that the...

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

At this stage, whatever Putin may have on Trump will not in any way surprise anyone anymore.

    LNER Stevenage Pickup/Setdown

LNER has allowed use of its trains since the timetable change when there has been disruption, but it seems to be on a case by case basis rather than automatic acceptance that would have applied before under the 'CSL2' rules that gives at least 90 minutes of acceptance on other services and...

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Disruptive passengers on a train near Welwyn North I believe. Not the best place to stand down and wait for police attendance!

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

I never used to have a problem with Costa Coffee, but since Coke took over they've slapped Costa on anything and everything, and Costas have sprung up all over the world. It would not surprise me if standards have fallen, especially when they're licensing the brand name.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

It was more about some places actually being genuine and a place that takes cards being more likely to be legit. I don't think every barber is dodgy, but at the same time they might all engage in dodgy practices. While some places are banking huge sums to launder cash, others are possibly...

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

He can do what he likes, but it's been made clear it isn't his and never will be his. That's going to be incredibly frustrating for him and that makes me happy.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

A statement has been made by the committee to point out that while he may have the prize, that's all he has. It will never be his, he's just in possession of it. That's going to hurt because he can't change that fact.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

(As others have said; I replied before seeing some other replies saying the same thing) So many of these places are now typical private equity owned/run organisations, and they do these stupid prices because they also do loads of discounts and offers - which is very much the same as the Tesco...
