UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

The Kia PV5 may work as a good 7 seater option when it's been out a while and they're available on the second hand market. It gets rave reviews in every configuration.

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

They have bought loads of online sites and now use them for a lot of clickbait, ridiculous levels of ads and sponsored content (which sadly then comprises impartiality because nobody is writing bad reviews about a company that is giving you a load of money). They're very much going but they...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

The sad thing is that anyone in business thinks what they do is excellent, and would aim to do the exact same thing. Loading a business with debt (either from selling off properties and leasing it back, or making the company pay to use its name and all the other 'tricks') is not something...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

I think we've long moved on from range anxiety issues. Now the issues are simply checking for the best price and convenience. In many cases, people stopping are not limited by the time to charge the car but rather the time to do other things before the car is charged.

At least Costco memberships are global, and everyone qualifies for their promotions!

I hadn't considered the overseas bit.. And as someone who often gets a hotel/apartment so we can have breakfast and/or dinner in the room, being made to pay an inflated price because we can't get a local discount card would be a PITA. The same presumably applies to tourists coming to the UK.

Opinions/suggestions for changes to Great Northern or Thameslink and linked services.

Dwell times on a 387 would be terrible in the peak compared to a 700, and then there's the not insignificant issue of accessibility. 700s have level access for the accessible coaches. 387s would need a ramp and for people to be at a totally different position on the platform, which would cause...

But nobody had to pay the inflated price before. Now you do if you can't have a loyalty card, such as because of your age. That's a key difference. Fake SRPs are as old as time itself but now some people are paying the inflated prices.

    Reform UK discussion

I wonder what Farage is going to say if it turns out this airbase attack by Iranian nationals that came by boat (and confirmed by Trump) turns out to be Londoners up stealing diesel fuel from farms? He was absolutely adamant he knew the score and so did the US President, so I assume he'll have...

    Supermarkets discussion

No links, but they've had items around 66% off before on things like expensive Colgate whitening toothpaste as one example. I don't note down prices as I see them, but other examples are ridiculous SRPs on things like 24 or 30 cans of Coke. There are people who do post examples and Aldi have...

    Supermarkets discussion

It's laughable how expensive the non loyalty card prices can be on some products, and it reminds me of the late night shopping channels that used to sell costume jewellery for thousands of pounds - quickly rescued by 50%, 70% and then 80 or 90%. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact...

Avanti West Coast - Renationalisation on March 7th 2027

The DfT(O) is penny pinching all over and they've begun to cut back services during things like school holidays. Short forming trains and cutting services is quite possible, and even with a fares freeze you can do things like get rid of super off peak tickets, or (re)introduce peak rate tickets...

Opinions/suggestions for changes to Great Northern or Thameslink and linked services.

There is a desire to run the Sevenoaks trains up to WGC all day, every day, which would solve that issue and also give Ashford drivers more jobs.

The Labour Party under Andy Burnham

If housebuilding is becoming less profitable, and we're still suffering a labour shortage (and potentially higher costs for materials, whether that's due to Brexit or higher diesel costs etc) then there's even more incentive for developers to build slower and charge more (and fewer new homes...

Companies That You Expect to Disappear Soon

Networks have worked hard to cut people out of the loop and go direct to customers. The days of service providers and independent phone stores are pretty much all gone - and I expect many franchises were deemed unnecessary. If you do accessories or repairs, fine, but the carriers want to own...
