    Supermarkets discussion

I think the idea used to be, as soon as you walk through the door, ooh look at all that lovely fresh fruit and veg, everything in this store must be just as good, this is a shop I want to buy everything from. Perhaps pots and pants (yes pants not pans) are now the thing to tempt people in.

    New Station calendar

Thanks, table at #1 updated. Crwys Road moved into the 'other proposals' part of the table.

    December 2023 Timetable Change

An all day Sunday service was promised as part of the EMR franchise. It should have happened by now. With Covid, franchises no longer being in force and cutbacks to save money, I guess it may never happen now.

The two round trips are only coming back Monday to Friday though.

    Shrinkflation - examples?

Yorkshire Tea went to 210 from 240 a good while ago. Cadbury Instant drinking chocolate (the no milk needed variety) recently dropped from 400g to 300g for the same price of £3.15. Fairy non-bio washing powder has shrunk in weight but still claims to be the same number of washes per box. Was...

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

There appear to be three 'forest road' routes to arrive at Altnabreac. One from Forsinairn (north of Forsinard Station) and two from the T-junction at Loch More. From Loch More the southerly one passes Dalnawillan (an abandoned lodge, home to a previous Lord Thurso, local landowner) then passing...

Good news, thanks. I found 20p* stood at the bus stop earlier, will that help? *You don't get that with tap 'n' go, contactless, Google Wallet etc.

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

No, definitely crossed wires on Google. The first picture I viewed shows a view out of the window with an 'oil rig'. I doubt anyone has dragged one of those up to Loch Dhu (the loch outside the lodge of same name). 1699799112 There are a number of nearby houses. The timber loading plan #52...

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

I was never quite sure whether that particular chapter was 100% genuine, 100% fiction or had some basis in fact but with some (or lots) of artistic licence. I did like the book though.

Altnabreac station and the various legal disputes around it

Perhaps they (Scotrail staff requiring to do whatever it is they need to do) could access the site by train! Or at least more fully explain what the 'safety' issue is.

    New Station calendar

Thank you. Table at #1 updated. I really ought to move Crwys Road, but where to put it! There is a single online reference (a news blog) to 2024 but nothing official.

    First Potteries Discussion

New timetable, same rubbish service from First Potteries. The bus to the station (0830 ex Hanley on the 6A) managed to run twice out of five this week. On those occasions they could be bothered it was actually on time!

    Supermarkets discussion

My nearest convenience store is a One Stop (proprietor Tesco, not a franchise), the next nearest shop would then be Aldi which is across the road from Tesco (supermarket). Heading another way there is the One Stop converted from a pub (bullet proof glass hatch for evening service). In another...

    South Wales 'Metro' updates

After posting, I did note the line at the top of the press release 'case study', which made me wonder whether it was a re-announcement. Strange that it doesn't seem to link to a case study report or similar. I don't follow the overall Metro project that closely, only for the new stations...

    New Station calendar

Funded for further studies, which is what (I assume) paid for the feasibility and preliminary business case, produced by Arup, submitted back in April 2022. Other than a large number of media articles, all clearly based upon the press release issued by the re-opening group on the 30th, I can't...
