    LNER 1st class catering

On the odd occcasion I've used LNER 1st class between Stevenage and Kings Cross I don't think I've ever been offered any catering. After a minimum 2+ hours before Stevenage the crew will be packing up. I have had some service northbound but the crew has got the rest of the journey ahead of them.

    FairFare – 26p/mile with a £60 universal railcard

Just to add to what's been said airplanes run non-stop from one airport to another. Trains don't. Trains call at intermediate stations where people board and alight. A very extreme example, is Stevenage to Moorgate via Hertford. The trains always leave Stevenage practically empty, even in...

Is there a map or list of all the rail services which TfL would like to add to the Overground network?

Trains to Moorgate cannot be longer than 6-car due to the platform lengths in the tunnels. What people want is a frequent, reliable service. Who operates the service, TfL or GTR (which becomes DfT Operated in May) doesn't really matter. Introducing another operator onto the lECML might not be...

    LNER 1st class catering

Did you change trains onto LNER southbound at Stevenage? If so, I think you were lucky to get anything given the journey only takes 20 minutes.

Is there a map or list of all the rail services which TfL would like to add to the Overground network?

I’m not sure what giving the Moorgate services to TfL would achieve. Extra services could be run by GTR. All it would do is introduce crewing inefficiencies if the service was split.

I’ve got a home delivery coming from Sainsbury’s later today. I’ve just been emailed the receipt. The order cost £69 I’ve got 69 Nectar points for the base spend . And 1,630 Nectar points for purchasing personalised Nectar offers. I also got 110 Avios for clicking through to Sainsbury’s from...

It's pretty much all in the Nectar app these days. Take a look on a Friday morning - I get around 20 Bonus Nectar point offers each week. You have to activate them and buy the product to get the points. The offers are all Sainsbury's own brand products on products I've bought in the last few...

The points targets are personalised and are designed to lock in loyalty and stretch your spending in the run up to the most important trading period of the year. I've got a high points target but I do collect lots of them - I don't spend that much in the grand scheme of things but what I...

    Project Oval capping

What happens if I'm travelling from London to Edinburgh, I touch in at Kings Cross and get checked by a keen train manager just before Stevenage. There's no check on the rest of the journey. At Edinburgh I leave the station without touching out. WHat am I charged?

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Thanks to you and @Bald Rick for explaining. This is why I'm not a timetabling expert!

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

But if you skip all the stations between Huntingdon and Arlesey the passengers from those stations can't go anywhere at all. Agreed. I hesitate to suggest fewer calls at Stevenage during disruption as a frequent user of the station!

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Given that Hitchin and Stevenage get a more frequent service than Arlesey, Biggleswade, Sandy, St Neots and Huntingdon, if skip stopping is needed to get back on track then would it be better to omit Hitchin and/or Stevenage?

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

Southbound, I agree. But northbound I doubt the departure boards won't say the train is calling at Stevenage, unless someone at LNER manually changes something.

    FairFare – 26p/mile with a £60 universal railcard

It's been like that for at least 20 years, probably longer. If the 2 track timetable post 22:00 was abolished then I'm sure LNR would run fast services to MKC as well.

    FairFare – 26p/mile with a £60 universal railcard

What about Gatwick Express? No faster than the non-express trains. Or Euston to Milton Keynes: The 11:41 Avanti takes 33 minutes The 11:46 LNR takes 32 minutes But some trains, both Avanti and LNR take over an hour. How is that going to be simple to understand what's express and what isn't...

It wasn't fixed on the Azuma I travelled on this afternoon. or the one I travelled on last Saturday. Was the Azuma where you didn't experience the problem running on diesel?

    EMR/Thameslink disruption 29 Sept - mixed messaging

It's not that. The tickets operate the barriers at the destination. I routinely keep my CCST tickets next to my phone, and have done for years. Never had a problem with them becoming demagnetised, including currently a monthly season ticket that still operates the barriers on day 29 of its...
