I work it out as £50 per journey assuming it has a 60 year lifespan.

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Network Rail has tweeted that double tracking of the Busby to East Kilbride line is on the cards, though not for 5-10 years: (http://twitter.com/NetworkRailSCOT/status/579929431461990400?s=17) Presumably electrification will happen at the same time.

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Fastlink services start running in a couple of months. The infrastructure between the Broomielaw and the new hospital in Govan is in place. They haven't yet built the city centre infrastructure that will give Fastlink buses priority at traffic lights etc but that should happen soon. As far as...

The new 'Fastlink' bus service will connect Central, QS and Buchanan bus station. It will run in the opposite direction to the free shuttle bus so Central to QS will take just a few minutes. I suspect it won't be free but should be high frequency.

Marr asked Salmond how he'd deal with a situation where Labour refused to negotiate with the SNP on it's budget, confident the SNP wouldn't vote against it and bring down a Labour govt. Salmond's response was that the SNP could propose an amendment to the budget such as, for example, starting...

Yes the STPR does say you'd need separate stopping services for intermediate stations. It mentions phase 1 requiring additional loops, linespeed improvements, more powerful rolling stock and upgraded signalling so I assume that's how the additional capacity will be created. It doesn't mention...

Just stopping at Dundee would reduce the journey time by 20 mins according to the STPR.

    Stopping a runaway train.

When that high speed train derailed in Spain recently should the systems have spotted that it was going to fast for the bend and applied the brakes?

I was wondering about that but the Aberdeen-Inverness improvement has the same paragraph minus the reference to electrification.

Good news stories are normally published before an election. The Tories will tank as always up here but the Lib Dems have a number of seats to defend so you'd have thought they'd be keen to publish. If they're not in a hurry to do so it suggests they don't think there's any vote winning...

    HS2 future northern extensions

On the question of which route any new line to Scotland would take (if it ever happens), the Scottish Government's Infrastructure Plan was updated recently and I notice the section on HSR still alludes to a west coast route (costing £15 billion) with no mention of the cost of an east coast...

HS2 on Track - March 2015: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/411808/HS2_Story_-_On_track.pdf I notice that Glasgow and Edinburgh seemed to have dropped off the radar in this report, being conspicuously absent from the list showing journey time...

    Scotrail Franchise - Abellio

Any idea how many more trains they'll be able to run through Central LL when the turnback is built?

    Scotrail Franchise - Abellio

I'm trying (as a layman) to interpret the clearance info in the franchise agreement. I take it the priority 1 routes are cleared for the new rolling stock and the priority 2 routes are not cleared but might be in future? If that's correct they wouldn't be able to run to Lanark from the outset as...

Thanks. I'm surprised Ayrshire isn't cleared as it's usually top of the pecking order when it comes to getting new trains. Is the new turnback at Finnieston confirmed or do you mean the existing siding?

Transport Scotland say the new trains will also operate on Glasgow South Suburban routes though they don't say which ones (Ayrshire?): http://www.transportscotland.gov.uk/news/scotland-track-new-trains
