Euro 2028: Manchester - Liverpool Corridor

A question or three: how many people use the buses? And how many use the airport? And of those at the airport, how many would use a rail link if there was one?

TfL verification letter following misuse of a found Freedom Pass — advice requested

TfL do seek to have other offences taken into consideration.

    Fine prosecution need help please

I'm a little concerned that OP says I think and hope that they received a witness statement ('MG11'). But their reference to a 'fine' might mean that it's a penalty fare that they haven't paid, in which case our advice might need to be refocused. (Edited to correct MG12 to MG11)

    Fine prosecution need help please

Do you still have the slip you were given? If so, it would be useful to see it (don't forget to hide your personal details) so that we can check just what it was you were given.

    Northern Rail Tickets investigation

That will be because at post #3, we asked The significance of the last six months is that that's how long the railways have to take ticketing offences to the magistrate's court i.e. to start criminal prosecution. For anything older than that, the only option open to the railway is the civil...

Caught short-faring from Brighton to Farringdon - Advice Needed

BRFares.com gives an Anytime Day Single at £31.80 - see https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=BTN&dest=ZFD&grpd=4452&rte=208&tkt=SDS. It's the railways' usual practice to seek repayment on the basis of single fares - so no discount for the part journey that you have already paid for, for...

New mandatory ticket area sign at Birmingham Snow Hill

I strongly suspect that what we're seeing is a bit of local initiative, produced by someone with access to a poster printer and with some awareness of the existence of Compulsory Ticket Areas. Because they know about CTAs, they have carefully avoided that precise wording - but otherwise they've...

    Off-peak return ticket validity

It's perhaps worth spelling out the difference. The restriction code that the OP in this thread wants to know about appears to be 2V (per @Bletchleyite 's post #2): at https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ticket-types/validity/2v/ the basic restriction is given as Compare that to @rhizomergence 's...

    Fare Evasion

To a large extent you have answered your own question. Someone tailgating would still be at risk of being picked up on the train at a ticket inspection - we see plenty of people seeking help here after being caught on train. As an exception, TfL don't seem to do ontrain inspections very much...

    Northern Rail Tickets investigation

To clarify, my advice to consult a union rep was over the specific work related question of the impact of a conviction for fare dodging on a teaching career. It's probably also worth adding that it seems that Northern are trying to look at incidents more than six months old: typically these...

    Gtr witness statement

If the railway are prepared to settle out of court then they normally want the full single train fares for all the journeys you made, plus an admin fee of maybe £150.

For this concern, talk to your union rep. They should be able to tell you whether this is an issue where you work.

MG11 issued by Greater Anglia - Expired 16-25 Railcard & Multiple Trips

It varies between railway companies, and changes over time. The letter they send you should make it clear what they will accept from you this time. While it's a good idea to be prepared, do make sure you read the railway's letter before replying - and make sure that you reply to what they ask...

TFL penalty fare moved to the prosecution team

It depends on what address they already have for you. If (as is the way with a lot of people at university) they have your parents ' address, and you can rely on your parents to send post on to you, then trust that: otherwise give them your new address.

    Will I get prosecuted?

I suspect that in practical terms, this route isn't available. As This means that if the OP wanted to challenge the penalty fare on a technicality, they would have to admit to giving false details - and the only way they could get a reply, even if they won on a technicality, would be by giving...

MG11 issued by Greater Anglia - Expired 16-25 Railcard & Multiple Trips

You have probably now worked this out, but for future travel do remember that 16-25 and 26-30 railcards are only valid for the holder: unless the other people also have an in-date railcard of the right sort, they would also be in trouble if caught.

    Merseyrail Tap & Go

I would speculate that if one taps at one end of the journey on a pink (TfW) reader and at the other on a yellow (Merseyrail) reader (and with nothing in between) you would surely get two incomplete journey charges - one from each system. But since as per your other post Chester has both pink...

SWR - Haven't received prosecution letter

Wait for around another month. The six months is for the railway to tell the courts that they want to prosecute, but then someone needs to tell you. So allow a bit of time in case everything was done on the last possible day, and then the post was running a bit slow.
