Strange/unusual/rare destinations programmed in the PIS

158865 was never a Central Trains unit, it was a Wales and West/Wessex Trains set from introduction until 2007. The 158s had a standard destination list from new though, up until the shadow TOCs came in they wandered more in their first years.

    Carpeted Sprinters/Pacers

I did think that was the case. One thing EMT did do was remove the carpeted dado panels from the side walls and replace them with plastic, they had a habit of collecting dripping condensation and going mouldy.

    Approach release at BL1533

Only by those who think others are incapable of understanding and acting on it appropriately, as opposed to inappropriately by relying upon on it to step up. It exists and I've always felt a thorough understanding of your working environment is more important than trying to force through an...

    Carpeted Sprinters/Pacers

Yeah, EMT carpeted both 153 and 156 at refurb. They were still loud! London Midland also carpeted their 153s.

Faded print on All Line Rover ticket and poor LNER customer service

Never tried it but I think I could do it on my mobile ticketing system, it would involve overriding the price and making a suitable entry on the shift shift as a report. No idea if the powers that be would consider it appropriate but I think it would work.

    Stockport Platform Zero Closed

It is remote from the other platforms and on a tight curve so it requires it's own member of platform staff to dispatch trains.

    GWR timetable cut back

Is it unfair to suggest P45s and bars from working in the industry for life would be appropriate punishments for the clowns who make business decisions firstly to run down maintenance for stock that is clearly going to see further use, and those who think that the stock which has then been sat...

    Stockport Platform Zero Closed

You end up putting a minute or two into the Norwich waiting for the Alderley Edge to clear and the Stoke runs on the fast into platform 2, usually. Not really a huge problem though the long speed restriction at Disley Tunnel also now eats into things too.

Bi-Di Signalling - Wellingborough to Leicester

It gets used quite frequently between Market Harborough and Kilby Bridge if there's signalling or train problems - it is a bit temperamental though with it being prone to getting "stuck" in the wrong direction when used.

    Ely West Curve

It was Nottingham crews for at least 20 years, then changed to Norwich in May, prompting the usual panic to make sure they were all current on it. In practice it's usually just refreshed on route refresh days by watching a short video. Nothing really to it! Most crew at both depots sign it.

    St Andrews ‘Railbus’ ticket

The issue appears to be that the Railbus portion of the fare is not senior railcard discountable, hence doesn't display any fares. The Railbus fare seems to have most value as a return within a month period return rather than a day ticket with the supplement being £5.40 single or £10.80 return...

Which long-established stations are showing good patronage growth?

Lincoln and Hykeham following a series of improvements to services - two trains an hour on the Nottingham line all day and direct services to London. Hykeham has also had an increase in local businesses with a lot of rail commuters.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

The lack of excessive heat is naturally helping a lot with things like the engines and air conditioning. Other issues still occurring.

Skegness by EMR this Summer, 2 car 158s today, must be cozy

It can, but maybe not at even half hourly spacings with some waits being needed.

Skegness by EMR this Summer, 2 car 158s today, must be cozy

    About 140 seats on a 2 car 158 and 180 on a 3 car 170. The 3 car 170 has far more luggage space than a 158 though.

My son has just received a fine to be paid in full of £3115 in 14 days.

Could be - but it's a huge number for a 15 year old to reach!

Skegness by EMR this Summer, 2 car 158s today, must be cozy

More 3 car 170s have been deployed on Liverpool - Norwich services with the 158s swapped to Skegness.

My son has just received a fine to be paid in full of £3115 in 14 days.

A fine of over 3 grand would be worthy of the news, something will be amiss there. It's about 10 times the usual amount imposed by a court for the offence and it won't have gone that far yet.

Skegness by EMR this Summer, 2 car 158s today, must be cozy

Newquay is a shortish branch conveniently interfacing with the mainline. Skegness is a long way away from it's nearest mainline at Grantham and I can't imagine LNER would be remotely interesting in trundling a train at 50 and 60 mph tops all the way to Skegness whilst the regular summer...

Skegness by EMR this Summer, 2 car 158s today, must be cozy

Sadly it's not really a good income though. The numbers are an error on the spreadsheet, it's a near 5 hour round trip for the units so is resource heavy, the fares under the present system don't really make much money for the business unit providing the service. The through fares are fairly...
