    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

No - there’s a GB one in standard livery named “Drax Power Station” (66724) though.

    Non-Urgent TOPS Requests

Could anyone tell me which two Class 350s worked 1G21 17:05 Liverpool Lime Street High Level to Birmingham New Street today (07/08/2020) please?

    Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 Discussion

EMAs effectively cover all remaining costs of running a service after passenger income is taken into account. During the height of lockdown when it was for essential travel / key workers only there were only a handful of passengers on each train - Classic Berths were <£100 if I recall correctly...

It’s for driver training purposes (726 by the way).

    Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 Discussion

I'm not sure how it's a lost opportunity if staff are unable to work for illness / health & safety reasons? Just the way the cookie crumbles... Also, the Sleeper has been fully funded by Transport Scotland during the pandemic under an Emergency Measures Agreement, so the amount of revenue...

    Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 Discussion

I suspect the maintenance staff numbers were reduced by a significant proportion too. Isolating, shielding, sickness, possible furlough etc. - it's highly unlikely there was a full strength team available.

    Caledonian Sleeper

Don't know who "guy at the train" is, but the loadings are significantly up - several services now full or near full - a far cry from the small handful of passengers on each train in the midst of Lockdown.

    Caledonian Sleeper

It’s not to do with the water going over the top but the volume/pressure of the additional water on the bridge supports etc. (remember Lamington...?)

    Caledonian Sleeper Mk5 Discussion

The initially reduced timetable during lockdown used only 32 coaches per night out of the fleet of 75 - and probably about one passenger per coach on average. It's now up to 50 coaches in play with the uplifted service and whilst loadings are certainly up, I suspect there's some capacity most...

    Caledonian Sleeper

The seats are officially out of use until 31/08/2020, hence why they can be booked 01/09/2020 onwards. However, I expect their availability will be reviewed nearer the time based on where things are up to virus-wise.

    Caledonian Sleeper

There's been previous discussions on why it may be called that, for example here: https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/caledonian-sleeper-discussion.118802/post-3288286

    Caledonian Sleeper

It was in that siding (which is indeed nicknamed the Klondike/Klondyke) last night and the night before (after working the Lowlander empties from Polmadie). That is usually where the Highlander engine sits in between shifts, however 020 has a minor fault, so may or may not be involved on Sunday...

    Caledonian Sleeper

The Emergency Measures Agreement is for a fixed period (six months from memory) - there's no incentive for Serco to keep the numbers low. When the EMA is over it's over. The current franchise agreement requires all services to run - once the EMA is finished, that franchise is still in force...

    Caledonian Sleeper Class 92's

GB took over the china clays at the start of 2017, already well into the Sleeper contract and at the time the 92s were returning from their enforced absence for reliability mods. The introduction of the Mk5s has impacted availability, though, as has to be 92s on the Beds now (including the 2x...

    Caledonian Sleeper Class 92's

I was only joking... it's Evian if I recall correctly, so almost certainly plastic bottles that will (hopefully) end up in the end (UK) consumers' recycling boxes. They are empty vans going back to France as far as I know. I guess it would need to be some high volume product that could go from...

All the empty bottles have to get back somehow, though?! ;)

    Caledonian Sleeper Class 92's

Yes, that’s about right. GB on the whole try and come up with pool codes that make sense, eg GBTG for the 60s, GBDF for the 47s. Some (esp with other operators) are more random on the face of it at least. The DB 92s operational in the UK are WFBC for example.

    Caledonian Sleeper Class 92's

For reference (and to illustrate the paintwork is somewhat random): GBRf 92s: GBST pool (UK freight, Mk5 sleeper and tunnel capable) - 010, 018, 038 (CS livery); 028, 043 (GBRf livery) GBSL pool (UK freight and Mk5 sleeper, NOT tunnel) - 006, 014, 023, 033 (CS livery); 020 (GBRf livery) GBCT...

It was 92006 - working its first freight train in 14 years and the last GBRf working on the Garston-Dagenham STVA before it went to DRS - photo here: https://flic.kr/p/2iwGLGg The CS-liveried 92s worked the STVAs ("cars") quite a lot - 014 was one of those that was quite often on the 6L48/6X41...
