I'm a serving officer with 18 years service and through to the interview stage for trainee driver. The police has declined in so many ways I don't recognise it any longer! Poor pension, pay and T & C's. Whatever you do, choose train driver!

This answers the why then. Seems FOC's are going through turbulent times at the moment.
