    At least that name makes sense (even if it's not what the Rule Book calls them). "Stop car marker" makes no sense.

    How many have you seen with "stop car" written on them, versus the countless thousands of them that say "car stop"? The industry-agreed Rail Industry Standards call them car stop markers.

Car stop markers are usually only installed to cater for expected train formations, and not for every possible train length in 1-car increments, so a platform might have markers for 2...
