    A career as a signaller

Appledore is controlled be Ashford IECC and there is no signalbox at Frant, and Bo-Peep is nearer Hastings than Bexhill, all the rest is correct. One oddity is that Tonbridge no longer controls Tonbridge itself as that was taken over by Ashford IECC in the 90s

    Signalling Codes

It’s not a sidings possession or any other type of possession.

What does -ISO mean on the railway?

It’s not a code and we can generally write whatever we want to write within reason, to remind ourselves of whatever we need to remind ourselves of :D

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

The talk at work is that the CARS project has been scrapped indefinitely, especially as the current train service and train lengths don’t warrant it anymore.

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

We don’t have a platform 8 at Norwood Junction.

    A career as a signaller

In both the case of TBASC and TBROC the local management always seem to advertise internally and externally at the same time for reasons better known to themselves.

Norwood Junction - New roof for Platform 6

Platform 6 at Norwood Junction is in constant use, however platform 7 on the other side of the island platform has been out of use for well over 40 years.

They main difference is the technology used for the man machine interface, the ASC is 1980s/2000s designed signaller control desk with push buttons NX (eNtrance eXit) panels and a separate diagram to operate the signalling, whilst the ROC uses 2000s to present PC (keyboard, mouse, monitor) based...

    South Croydon speed limit

I’ve not been aware of any problems through East / South Croydon effecting the Fast lLines this week and the current problem only effects a very small portion of Down Slow / Up East Grinstead Lines that can easily be worked around without the need to caution trains.

    South Croydon speed limit

This was only discovered between the early hours and the start of service today, I didn’t really pay attention to the time.

    South Croydon speed limit

At 11.00 am today the track engineers imposed a non boarded 5mph emergency speed restriction over the effected fixed diamond crossing for train movements on the Down Slow Line and Up East Grinstead line, other routes are not effected. There has been no emergency or any other speed restrictions...

    South Croydon speed limit

There is no emergency speed restriction in place at South Croydon, but there is a rail defect within the junction that requires that the engineers take a Line Blockage every hour to inspect. They are hoping to repair the rail defect tonight.

Redhill non stop via platform 3?

I’ve got no idea about signal sighting, that’s above my pay grade. So I wouldn’t quote me on such issues. But most signallers will place the train at the London end of the platform if they need the country end clear or think they will need to use the country end of the platform whether it’s...

Redhill non stop via platform 3?

Most GWR drivers with use the radio and request permission to stop short from the signaller and it’s the signaller who decides if they want that or not. Some have stopped short without asking causing platform sharing issues during distribution. Redhill is controlled by the signallers at Three...

Redhill non stop via platform 3?

Because timetable planning has had a bad habit recently of booking the South Eastern nonstop diversion services through platform 3 and some colleagues will follow the program exactly even though I would make more sense to run those services through the though road. To me it makes sense to keep...

A pool Signaller at the TBROC could quite easily end up at TBASC or vice versa as we currently have two TBROC pool signallers learning our panels at the moment.
