Is the acceleration of an IET really that much quicker than a 390, to keep time despite being none EPS though? from the few times ive been on 390s I wouldn't exactly consider them sluggish, I mean their not replacing 91's or HSTs here.

If We're going with Virgin for most experimental, i'd tender GNER as a close second, purely for running a regular timetable with Eurostar sets and returning one-off 89001 to service if nothing else.

I remember finding the sound/vibrations of the compressor on 319's quite irritating - especially since there's nothing else mechanical making noise in that coach.

Don't know if it's been brought up yet, but from memory, the cast iron roof fittings in Newcastle station are still painted in GNER Navy/Orange.

I'm currently on a EMR class 156 from Peterborough to Lincoln and an automated voice keeps saying the above on the tannoy every minute or so. I can't make out the blank word/words over the engine noise. Any one got any ideas what this is?

Just curious on this one; From what I understand, there I a limit on how fast a HST can be pushed using It's "tow bar" but no such limits exist when being pulled, I remember watching an old BR era video on it So how fast can you drag a dead HST set? I'd assume of rescued by a 91 I'd could be...

Maybe a little off topic, but I think I travelled on a 155 once many years ago but not sure as I was a child at the time. Was a metrotrain liveried 2 car unit running from York to Scarborough some time in the early 2000's. What's the bets this was a 155?
