Blurry 68 and MkVs at Scarborough depot, having presumably received a stern talking to about software faults and why it would have been better to have them at Velim.
I think the developers of Leeds Dock fund it in part or wholly. Give it a go next time you're in Leeds - it's genuinely useful if you want to get to / from the Armouries or thereabouts.
This is a pretty silly post Chris. People clearly do care whether it's a Pacer or not, and there is evidence of that sprinkled throughout this thread. One of the problems with trains operated by Pacers is that there often is not enough space for everyone to get on. See my earlier post for a few...
Here's the thing: I know that Pacers - with their bargain basement build and operating costs - probably helped keep some lines open during the 1980s. But that knowledge did not help me when I got left behind at Manchester Deansgate because there was no room for me to fit on a Pacer at rush hour...
No, it isn't. Whilst I am sure that all of the policiticans involved are hoping to be rewarded at the ballot box for going in to bat for their constiuents, they are also trying to find a way to enforce franchise commitments or, if that cannot be done, give their constituents some recompense...
Essential parts of the Class 153 travelling experience:
1. Sitting there thinking "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! My knees!" and knowing that somewhere some medieval despot had a torture chamber configured like Class 153 airline seats; and
2. The feeling of utter hopelessness and...
Didn’t manage to catch a ride, but it was good to see this in the 17:44 departure from Scarbs. We passed another set heading towards York at Malton, presumably on crew training?
That's what my gut is telling me should happen too. Loads of money needed, plenty of obstacles - but on the other hand it's a logical end point for the railway; it'd bring tourists and regeneration for the city; and - if you design it right - a car free commuter route into town.
Would anyone be up for getting tipsy in a pub near the depot and then taking one of these things for a spin round the Liverpool loop in a Titfield Thunderbolt style? I bet you can the bits needed to make them work off the third rail on Ebay for pennies...
It exists! I heard one leaving Scarbs on Thursday, but this is the first time I’ve actually seen one. And it looks like it’s shortly going to be a TV star too.
That'd be a lose on every level. Anyone who's shared the toilet on an overcrowded EMT service out of Manchester Oxford Road with four or five other people will, I'm sure, be happy to confirm that an extra carriage is unlikley to give the extra capacity required on Liv - Nott. As others have...
The second is poor management too. It indicates that TPE still does not have a sufficiently robust plan for introducing these trains to be confident about a date.
Regarding the service, you should ask my friend Lissa's view. She commutes Monday to Friday from Scarbs. Her daily routine now...
You absolutely can criticise TPE for both of those things. Giving dates and not sticking to them, and refusing to give any dates at all are both symptoms of poor managagement. What TPE should be doing is giving dates that are realistic, and if some unforeseen problem prevents those dates from...
802 204 on a trip to the seaside, at Scarborough this afternoon. It set off towards York a minute or two after I took these. Thanks to _craigy for the tip off.
