I for one welcome ex emergency services into the driving role. Would be nice to get stimulating conversation from someone that I have something in common with but also to help settle into the job and pass my experience of being a new driver. It’s better than listening to “senior” drivers...

And yes I was a Police Officer before I joined the Railway. But it’s okay I’ve been on the Railway for 7 years & I have been driving for 5 years so people like me aren’t destroying the atmosphere of the workplace....

It’s funny how the “experienced” drivers like Leep1 & ComUtoR that are questioning “attitudes” of new recruits that are ex services. I personally think you find that your “attitudes” that are outdated and belong back in the BR days or in the pre PACE era... what is it you say Leep1 and I quote...

It will be mostly be the questions you’ve been asked already....for example Talk abou time you’ve dealt with an emergency.... Talk about a time you’ve had to concentrate for long periods of time.... What does train driving involve and what is expected of you... Why do you want to be a train...

Make sure you keep that e-mail &/or ask for it in writing....

And the fact that now the new timetable that was due to be put into place was withdrawn meaning that SWR no longer need the extra drivers & also the extreme shortage of DI across the network....

I also believe it to make sure any data that SWR/First have now complies with GDPR legislation...

Attitudes of senior management. There is no urgency from the company to do & sort anything out....

How long is a piece of string.....although turnover is massive at Waterloo going up through the links is based on seniority so could be a few months could be years There is onsite parking but not many spaces....and it is very possible that you don’t get a space.

There are many rosters/links at Waterloo due to it being the biggest depot so most days you work in a week & longest consecutive days vary from roster to roster. However, you can work a max of 6 days and you can have a max of 6 days but it spaced out so you would get it twice in the space of 28...
