Definately +1 for subtitles.... I find dubbing awful. Agree on too much background audio though... That being said I didn't find this programme awful... It probably helps having decent quality speakers... But it's a trend I don't like and struggle far more when watching in simpler environments...

Many Thanks for the responses. In the end my friend decided, after CFR-SOU on the train, to get the bus onwards from southampton - in part as it also covered the journey from fareham to home (since they'd have needed a bus anyway). If only we had better inter-modal ticketing and journey...
