No worries. Seems to be the case recently with various TOCS where those registered for job alerts haven’t been alerted and have missed out! At least you’ve got the application in! We all know these trainee adverts tend to close earlier than advertised due to the sheer amounts of applicants!

Thameslink / Great Northern just advertised and looking for trainee drivers at Cricklewood and Brighton depots.

It defo says ‘recruitment team’ on the top...and goes on to list the specific roles each name you can query through... so these two emails are the EMT HR.

I know of a couple of qualified drivers from my TOC that completed the assessments for this and one has now started and the other is in the talent pool. This was at the start of the year! So I reckon they pick their ‘top’ candidates and process them then the rest are just left...... so to speak....

I think it’s human nature to not be content and moan. I’m sure ‘Virgin’ and ‘Eurostar’ drivers moan and are not quite content. I often take a look at the ‘real world’ and we are very well looked after in terms of pay and conditions in comparison.....

Sometimes it’s better the devil you know. Be sure to research properly the east London line though... try and speak to current ELL drivers...a lot of drivers leaving there mainly due to the constant defensive driving (driving on yellows and reds) and high intensity DOO & stop start stop start on...

At that time of the morning getting in from anywhere is quick and easy. And starting this early means you are finished at a reasonable time usually before midday so the commuter traffic is avoided.

Yes they drive or many drivers swap shifts with other drivers. And as I say, the early shifts vary between 4:15 and normal hours.... very few are actually 4:15

It’s now changed to a reasonable commute.... there are current drivers that live in Brighton, Bedfordshire, two I know living in rugby, Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire. You have to be able to get in for an earliest start of 4:15am currently and the latest finishes are around the 01:30am mark...

The ARL driver conditions of service documentation has mention of reimbursing relocation costs so I would say yes..... but check with HR....

It is definitely worth contacting HR. An advert for qualified drivers at new cross gate recently closed. ARL are loosing a fair amount of drivers at the moment for various reasons..... so defo worth asking HR the question.

The rosters I have are for Willesden, Watford and Euston depots only. New cross gate are a separate entity so don’t have their roster(s)
